    I guess through all the all-star-snub talk. There was a good case for him being in, but he's been a product of the environment in large part. Obviously you have to come through, but I guess its a huge strength of this team that Counsel is constantly able to put guys in great places to succeed. The weakness is LHP. ok. Put Seiya between Tucker and PCA.

    Keller needs a good outing here to get back into the circle of trust.

    Fox announcers saying what I've been screaming for weeks. Seiya is awesome and having a great year, but hitting between two MVP caliber lefties means he gets to face lefties pretty often. He already has 118 PAs against lefties vs 138 all of last year.

    It’s to keep his defense in as long as possible. Starters will come out after two PAs. PCAs PA will be the latest in the game. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

    There is no doubt he is still a nincompoop. This does not negate him being the best defender ever.

    Vidal Brujan is one of the slowest Cubs Berti is faster, Shaw is much faster. Brujan's only perceived value is as a PR and its just not there. Bring up Long, let him platoon with Busch, get some reps at 3B, and give Hoerner and Dansby some rest, play Shaw or Berti at 2B No matter the alignment you have at least one of Berti, Shaw, Nico, Dansby on the bench ALL of which are better PR options than Brujan.

    I’m at my first game at Wrigley in 10+ years. In sluggers right now. hoping for that sweep!

    I think this is the key. I think there's a possibility that Horton starts in the playoffs, but if he does, he's got to be moved out of the rotation ASAP. I still like piggybacking him and Pomeranz 3 and 3 for around a month.

    Just tuning in in the bottom of the 6th. Obviously I missed all of Shota's start, but 1 hit, one walk through 5: I don't even need to ask how he looked. Man, it's good to have him back.

    Still, over 90 wins is not a team contending for a playoff spot, its a playoff lock. Adjust your scale to "Mediocre, contender, elite: and I'd agree. Around .500 is the definition of mediocre.

    Except that your example demonstrates why OBP and SLG should be weighted equally on different scales. The HR is the quarter and the walk is the nickel.

    The broadcast said something about PCA's double being only the second extra-base hit by a lefty against him all year. I'm sure that factored into it. Busch is more than his slug, so I agree with you, but that's the "reason Busch couldn't do something more than Turner yesterday."

    You may need to add Justin Steele and to the dead money default (with Heyward and Bellinger) and give a couple more slots for dead money if someone chooses to cut a Berti/Brujan/Tucker/Roberts type. Steele, Workman and Lopez need to be included somewhere as does the money paid to the Iowa shuttle crew. And maybe I'm understanding this wrong, but you have Roberts on your list, but not Keller. Not even in the internal options list. Finally, the budget should reflect at least the first tier luxury tax. Again, I may just be being dumb and missing something obvious, but I don't think this is a useful tool without those updates.

    Oh for sure. That’s why I referenced it as a rabbit hole. My comment was totally unrelated to the discussion. It’s just as I looked into it I followed the rabbit hole to when he was ultimately traded. Then got ill.

    The rabbit holes are not kind today. If you want to get angry, follow what Patterson was ultimately traded for and how much WAR he and those he was traded for ultimately produced after.
