  1. Example pitcher: Breaks in at age 19 and pitches 5 average seasons. ERA+ in those 5 years 135 (only 5 games started) 81 107 92 104 102 and whips rainging from 1.28 - 1.62 then all of the sudden at age 25, he turns it on with ERA+ of 143 161 187 160 190 and whips of 0.85-1.03 Nagging injuries take him out of the game by age 30! Sounds pretty suspicious, right. Because players that jump in performance like that and then suffer injury after injury are juiced, right? I don't beleive Nomar was juiced any more than I believe Sandy Koufax was
  2. Miller is the NRI So when Koronka gets send down, the roster will be set, right?
  3. Really makes you wonder where the Cubs would be if not for the financial limitations of small market teams. (Also the Pirates, Royals, A's!! - holy cow)
  4. Doesn't matter when. They could be retro active to the last time they pitched in a ML or spring game. Or in their cases, as far back as the end of last season.
  5. It's Miller. Cubs.com only lists 14, and Miller is an NRI. Makes sense to me.
  6. 15 Pitchers: Zambrano Maddux Rusch Williams Marshall Hill Dempster Howry Eyre Williamson Novoa Ohman Wuertz Koronka (who is the 15th pitcher?) 2 Catchers: Barrett and Blanco 7 INF: Lee Aram Cedeno Walker Hairston Perez Theriot 6 OF: Pierre Murton Jones Mabry Pagan Restovich I don't know who the 15th pitcher is. Are they still counting Wellemeyer? Is Miller the 15th?

Right on, man! I'm sure you;ve said it before: AA is where the prospects are. AAA is mostly spare parts.
  8. you forgot "barring any setback"
  9. I hope not. Wouldn't want him to get a papercut. And then, of course, it would get infected and he'd go on the DL for 6 weeks. Bitter cynicism or sarcasm mocking cynics? Either way, very funny.
  10. GROUP A David Ortiz GROUP B Albert Pujols Mark Teixeira Group C Jason Bay Lance Berkman Carlos Delgado Group D Aubrey Huff Jhonny Peralta Willy Mo Pena Nick Swisher Bonus: Milton Bradley
  11. Don't be too excited, Meat.... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060323cubs,1,1629361.story?coll=cs-home-headlines GAHHHHHHHHHH :wall: Means nothing. It's an article about the Hairston legacy. What are they gonna say. "all this heritage isn't going to earn him a spot"?
  12. If I was in baseball, I would have myself tested on a regular basis starting way back in 1998 with the Andro thing.
  13. crap I thought the same exact thing. Neifi's a Cub & I'm a Cub fan. Sorry to all the pessimists & haters if I root for him! WTG NEIFI!!! I hate the eye rolly thingy, but I really am rolling my eyes struggle>
  14. Duly noted. In fact, last year 1 & 2 accounted for 24.5% of the PA's 24.5% of th PA's and 24.6% of the runs scored. Sorry but with Ramirez and Lee behind them the 1-2 spots should be doing more than average in the run scoring department. What if your 3-4 hitters just did 23% of the RBI in 23% of the PA's? We'd be screaming, that's what! That's all quite true, but it really doesn't address the original point. while obviously hyperbole, the original post (the one about Ramirez and Lee only getting RBI in the form of each other) has significant merit. The 1-2 spots in the order didn't perform last year.

  16. How are all these guy fixed for service time? As in the six years minor league type? Isn't it true that there comes a point where options are irrelevant?
  17. Dude, its been over a year. When can we give it a rest? no. never forget.
  18. When the Catchers in camp outnumber the available pitchers, something has to be done.
  19. or more, ala Nomar.
  20. Who's on first. I don't know... I Don't Know is on third. There's your answer. Love that sketch.
  21. Who's on first. I don't know...
