    Duly noted. In fact, last year 1 & 2 accounted for 24.5% of the PA's 24.5% of th PA's and 24.6% of the runs scored. Sorry but with Ramirez and Lee behind them the 1-2 spots should be doing more than average in the run scoring department. What if your 3-4 hitters just did 23% of the RBI in 23% of the PA's? We'd be screaming, that's what! That's all quite true, but it really doesn't address the original point. while obviously hyperbole, the original post (the one about Ramirez and Lee only getting RBI in the form of each other) has significant merit. The 1-2 spots in the order didn't perform last year.

    He's probably talking about Dusty's "nothing hurts. nothing, nothing, nothing" Was that a lie or did Baker think the discomfort was normal Spring Training soreness? I think it was the latter. I think you're right. But I'm pretty sure that's the quote the previous poster was so steamed up about. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt here.

    It's ok to be wrong, we even let cardinals fans post here! The bartman play doesn't excuse agonz no matter where the ball lands. It does, however, indict god. I'm not afraid to admit I'm wrong. I just have this ability to realize the truth. And the truth is that it wasn't interference according to the rules. That's a fact. So the rules stipulate that fans can reach out into the playing field and grab balls that would otherwise be in play. Interesting. I sort of thought that was frowned upon Except he didn't reach out on to the field. I'm done with this debate. I'm not thick headed like you are. Everybody in the nation knows the ball would have landed in the stands except you. Face reality. Of course he reached onto the field. It was interference. Bartman is to blame. But not as much as AGonz.

    You're right, vance. This IS his future he's dealing with. More than anybody but Maddux, Prior has always struck me as intelligent and wise. I think he's shutting himself down, and I think its a good call. If the Cubs did know about this injury earlier (I don't think they did) it may have been what kept them from trading him for Tejada...a blessing in disguise, no? But more likely Prior has taken it out the Cubs' less capable hands. He's been abused in the past and he knows how and when to release information. People can call him a wuss if they want, but he's going to be around for a long time.

    My guess is that if the Cubs had divulged this information earlier, it would have been against Prior's wishes and thus illegal. To me their credibility remains intact.

    And that's wrong. I'm not huge Maddux fan, but he's a legit 3 in the NL. At worst he's a very good 4. He's not 5, really good or otherwise. 5 pitchers across the league don't come close to his level of effectiveness as a pitcher. He might not be worth his money, but he's better than even a really good 5. Hypothetically, if you leveled out baseball and called the best 30 pitchers "ones" the next 30 "twos" etc., the fives would be mostly guys who aren't good enough to be back this year. Hypothetically twenty of thirty "fives should be replaced by rookies or Rusch's. Saying he's a five is tantamount to saying he should retire because he doesn't belong on a major league roster. Luckily the field isn't level and the Cubs have a full house: aces over threes!!!

    definitely. I was at a rainy game in Washington with him last year. In fact, everytime I've ever seen him, it's been raining. Just like that guy from "So long and thanks for all the fish". I remember that quite well; it was really raining hard a couple of times (including when I got to the stadium). I was surprised they got the game in. And to make matters worse, after waiting out the rain and watching the Cubs lose, I had a lengthy delay on the Metro due to a train breakdown. After that discourse, I'm afraid to ask if we're going to go again this year. Are you going to be able to catch any games in Washington this year?
