  1. yup. perfect stabilizing option that makes us look a lot less desperate. A playoff rotation of Shota, Boyd, Taillon, Horton is not the end of the world. Soroka is a nice 4th once Taillon comes back and a nice 5th once Horton comes back from the rest/benching he gets once Taillon comes back. Now get a number 2 and make that last paragraph obsolete.
  2. I like this trade. I also believe this is just the start.
  3. Why not put our CF Albino Soriano in the leadoff spot.
  4. I thought you were talking about Hoyer there for a minute.
  5. Someone on this board recently noted something like: "No top 100 player has been traded for a rental position player in the last 4 years" While that *could* change this year, it wont change enough that two top 100 players will be traded for a 33 year old rental having a career year on pace for 5 WAR.
  6. You can’t script this high drama. Two best records in baseball (Toronto doesn’t exist), tied for first in the division heading into the trade deadline at a park the visiting team’s fans call Wrigley North. This is perfect and beautiful.
  7. Call it 7 different players, because Taillon is a big part of the reason they are on a 94 win pace. But your point stands.
  8. Agreed. We get 3 from this list Starting pitcher that pitches in a playoff series and makes sure we don't see Ben Brown until next year. Starting pitcher that barely bumps Rea or rests Horton when Taillon comes back. Closer middle inning reliever First division infield bat. You get three. If everything goes well.
  9. There has to be SOMETHING done by Sunday. You can't punt a game against the White Sox. You can't risk losing this series because you are pitching Brown on Sunday. You also don't want to "waste" Boyd on the White Sox. As of right now, who pitches Sunday? Brown? Call up Birdsell for a spot? You have to make a trade by then.
  10. Yeah, I have no problem with the decision. Seiya makes that catch 9 times out of 10. A real outfielder makes it 99 times out of 100. Win this game and feel justified that Seiya gets very little time in the field.
  11. Apparently Brujan is getting slower. I wonder if moving Happ to DH and giving Seiya more time in LF would benefit everyone.
  12. For sure. Still hate it. Would rather call up Little and jettison Roberts even if for one game/series then back to Assad/Taillon or if neither is ready, Wicks or Neely. Its not like Roberts is serving a function, Or just keep Little up. He's killing in Iowa and has even been used as an opener there as of late.
  13. I don't understand opening a righty reliever for a righty Brown. Any chance they follow braisher with Theilbar to face Caglione and Frazier and then back to Brown for the bottom of the order and then face the whole order twice?
  14. I guess through all the all-star-snub talk. There was a good case for him being in, but he's been a product of the environment in large part. Obviously you have to come through, but I guess its a huge strength of this team that Counsel is constantly able to put guys in great places to succeed. The weakness is LHP. ok. Put Seiya between Tucker and PCA.
  15. Keller needs a good outing here to get back into the circle of trust.
  16. Fox announcers saying what I've been screaming for weeks. Seiya is awesome and having a great year, but hitting between two MVP caliber lefties means he gets to face lefties pretty often. He already has 118 PAs against lefties vs 138 all of last year.
  17. It’s to keep his defense in as long as possible. Starters will come out after two PAs. PCAs PA will be the latest in the game. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
  18. There is no doubt he is still a nincompoop. This does not negate him being the best defender ever.
  19. Vidal Brujan is one of the slowest Cubs Berti is faster, Shaw is much faster. Brujan's only perceived value is as a PR and its just not there. Bring up Long, let him platoon with Busch, get some reps at 3B, and give Hoerner and Dansby some rest, play Shaw or Berti at 2B No matter the alignment you have at least one of Berti, Shaw, Nico, Dansby on the bench ALL of which are better PR options than Brujan.
  20. Keep that positivity back in April where it belongs. It's hope springs eternal, not hope summers eternal.
