  1. Except that your example demonstrates why OBP and SLG should be weighted equally on different scales. The HR is the quarter and the walk is the nickel.
  2. The broadcast said something about PCA's double being only the second extra-base hit by a lefty against him all year. I'm sure that factored into it. Busch is more than his slug, so I agree with you, but that's the "reason Busch couldn't do something more than Turner yesterday."
  3. You may need to add Justin Steele and to the dead money default (with Heyward and Bellinger) and give a couple more slots for dead money if someone chooses to cut a Berti/Brujan/Tucker/Roberts type. Steele, Workman and Lopez need to be included somewhere as does the money paid to the Iowa shuttle crew. And maybe I'm understanding this wrong, but you have Roberts on your list, but not Keller. Not even in the internal options list. Finally, the budget should reflect at least the first tier luxury tax. Again, I may just be being dumb and missing something obvious, but I don't think this is a useful tool without those updates.
  4. I honestly never thought of that as having anything to do with homosexuality. Is "pain in the butt" off limits too?
  5. You missed "Excellent pitch calling, caught stealing specialist, pitch framer: 2 of 3"
  6. Shouldn’t take much work. The needs are the same because Jed didn’t finish the job.
  7. Oh for sure. That’s why I referenced it as a rabbit hole. My comment was totally unrelated to the discussion. It’s just as I looked into it I followed the rabbit hole to when he was ultimately traded. Then got ill.
  8. The rabbit holes are not kind today. If you want to get angry, follow what Patterson was ultimately traded for and how much WAR he and those he was traded for ultimately produced after.
  9. I know it will never happen, but I like the idea of throttling Horton down to three innings/40 pitches and stretching Pomeranz out to three innings and piggybacking them. Then two pitchers are doing the job of two pitchers and you limit horton's innings and exposure. If cabrera turns into a pumpkin and you need another lefty, Luke Little is cruising in AAA with an 0.82 WHIP and 3-1 K/BB ratio. I still think Little is your playoff secret weapon. Can you imagine a softer L/R combo like Theilbar and Pressley followed by 100+ L/R combo of Little and Palencia.
  10. I agree. This is the time to do it too. Make Skenes hate facing the Cubs so much that he will sign with them in ... checks notes ... sigh...2030
  11. I think I do, because I think it means getting an ace around July 29th. An ace that will help in the playoffs. As odd as it sounds, the Cubs have the luxury of waiting; the only thing at stake is a first-round bye. If you add a TOR starter instead of a MOR starter by risking that bye (not losing, mind you, simply risking) I think you do it. Get Assad and Shota back, move Brown to the pen and Horton to AAA then. Then Rea to the pen when you land that TOR starter. Of course if you can make the right deal sooner, do it. So I would not say as you did, "the sooner...the better." I would say, "the better, the better."
  12. I just don't see the urgency. Imanaga is back soon, you're in first place, 90ish% chance of making playoffs. Wait until a couple more teams are out of it and a couple more pitchers become available. You definitely need to be pursuing the top tier, but that top tier isn't all available yet.
  13. I had to look that one up to believe you. I could've sworn he did multiple times just last year. You are, obviously, correct and I am foolish. When I think of 1B and CF I definitely immediately think of Cody and that part I thought was clear.
  14. It was affirming the Tauchman reference, with a slight nod to no longer having Bellinger around. not that I wanted to keep him at that pricetag, very happy with Tucker, thank you.
  15. I was thinking a guy who could play CF and 1B would be ideal.
  16. Why would you jinx it?! You said that and Arenado immediately hit a two run homer.
  17. Which is why I said "overly much." Even more than is typical
  18. I haven't read the infamous 5 pages that led this thread to this particular moment, and don't want to get into an argument. I just want to point out that in the playoffs you will be facing exactly what you reference. I do have a bit of a worry that the Cubs cash in against sub-par pitching and struggle overly much against elite pitching. I'm to lazy/busy to do the work to find out if that's right (I just added a PhD program to my already stupid schedule starting this fall and I'm currently trying to read everything in my field in preparation), but its something I'm watching.
