    i was thinking about this before i went to bed. it's so absurd that marty lapointe was once the captain of this team. aucoin wore the A. what a worthless free agent class that was but i guess at least the franchise was trying and bulin wasn't a towering inferno-type disaster. Some other hockey fans have complained that the Blackhawks are an example of "intentionally tanking" to get high draft picks. The year we earned the Kane draft pick, they had Aucoin (huge free agent signing in terms of money), Khabibulin (the biggest free agent of his offseason) and Havlat (traded, but it was basically a salary dump for the other team). They were trying, they just sucked.

    At least when they repeat, all the new fans this year can lord their superior status over the nationwide fans next year when the Blackhawks become America's team. I can't believe I'm watching the Blackhawks Stanley Cup parade.

    haha no not me. I'm on LaSalle and Washington. Abc Nbc and wgn are doing various reports around me so I wouldn't be surprised if I was on some sort of news report. But I'm wearing a hossa shirt not a Stanley cup ha. What's with the delay? It's Hot as balls out here. A few players were late, they just said on WGN.

    As far as I can tell, Niklas Nordgen was traded from the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006 after playing 43 games, and he'd be the last player to face this question. I don't know if he's on the Cup or not.

    Cam Barker's planning his day with the Cup. Didn't he play enough games this year? Havlat is wondering why he sucked so much this year. He played enough games, but you have to finish with the team too, I think. I'll check. The Hawks might give him a ring, though.

    I don't understand this thought process. The idea that you've "earned" it more because you've watched more. I'm a huge Chicago sports fan, but for (I think) pretty reasonable reasons, I haven't had a lot of Blackhawks interest previously. I've had a casual passing interest...enough to care whether they won or lost, but not enough to watch the games on a regular basis. But (like many in town I suspect, based on TV ratings for Chicago), I followed the playoffs religiously. Why would you begrudge those people? Because I'm petty. (and heck, if you were watching by the end of the Vancouver series, I'm willing to give you a pass. I'm not sure all these people were)>

    yeah. i'm obviously fine with going into next season with him as our goalie, but i still don't know what to make out of that guy. even when he's going good, he seems to be flopping around... yet it seems to work a lot.you'd think winning a stanley cup would tell you what kind of goalie you have, but i still don't know. no matter what happens though, i'll always love him. There are like 5-10 good goalies in the league, and about 2 million butterfly guys who just play the percentages and will put up a save percentage of about .910 in the long run but that will fluctuate wildly over even seemingly large samples. Niemi falls into the latter category.

    I always thought I'd be above being annoyed by bandwagon fans. But now that there's an actual bandwagon to be jumped on, turns out I'm not. I know I'm being petty and silly, though.

    You don't know a damn thing about Chicago's sports fans. I'm generalizing, sure. But it hasn't been that long since sports radio guys were practically booed off the mic if they tried to talk Hawks. I know it's not Chicago, but I worked at a small newspaper about 1.5 hours away and got all kinds of flack from the staff if I tried to sneak Blackhawks news into the sports section. And iirc, the Blackhawks were still paying for radio time not that long ago.

    Okay, saw the replay now, and that was clearly offside. The goalkeeper got up with room to spare. I'm disappointed, the "Mexico got jobbed by home refs" storyline would be more amusing.

    thats why im getting a bolland or seabrook jersey I'm getting really crabby about this. This city's sports fans weren't just disinterested, they were openly hostile to hockey for years. They should get off my lawn!

    Yes. The linesman had his flag up. They should know that means offside. That's like having a football referee signal holding and the announcers trying to figure out why the ball got moved back 10 yards.
