    From this day forward, every time Steve Rosenbloom refers to "The Fanboy owner", he should be punched directly in the nose. What can his new nickname be, though? "The guy who hired Theo Epstein" seems a bit clunky.

    I still guess that the Cubs are going to pass on Fielder/Pujols. There will be some acrimony about that, though not as much because of the Epstein honeymoon glow.

    Theo was near the bottom of the "awesome" options imo. I'm focusing on the fact that we are choosing from the awesome pile at all rather than nitpicking that I would have rather had Friedman or that Atlanta guy.

    Agreed. It's going to take a day or two to pan out, but basically this is what is happening. Red Sox: "We want something awesome and Theo has to agree to have his mind wiped on the way out. Cubs: "You get nothing." Red Sox: "Fine, how about something insignificant and Theo can't bring anyone with him without our approval." Cubs: "Done."

    This is happening. I have no reservations that if the leaks are coming at this rate all of a sudden, it's done and the details are just being ironed out before the press conference. I just want to type this because it seems so surreal: We have fully left the Jim Hendry Era of the Chicago Cubs and are about to enter the Theo Epstein era. We're going to have a real organization, with top-notch statistical analysis and a modernized scouting program from top to bottom. :yahoo:
