  1. Need to move Stewart up in the lineup. Why not bat him second?
  2. I know they aren't strictly related, but seeing the return on Byrd makes me just want to hold on to Soto.
  3. Probably as good of news as anything we'll get on the minor league front tonight. He's still got plenty of time for things to click. He's got to be one of the youngest guys in AAA, right?
  4. It's another case of "all our assets are so bad it doesn't really matter if we get much for them or not."
  5. You do this every year and it's still wrong. Not all games on the schedule are created equally. True. Pre-fire sale games should have come at a better than projected win rate, so losing them costs us even more.
  6. That was an entertaining game. Welcome to the season, Maholm.
  7. Nice at-bat, LaHair. We are primed for another Stewartbomb. He's due.
  8. We should make it like the Sosa home run chase and just refer to them by number. "Castro got Nos. 6 and 7 today!"
  9. If he makes another awesome play to even it out, they should erase it from his record.
  10. So we can presumably throw another $5 million into the mysterious hole where all the baseball money went.
  11. Theo and I have the same terrible taste in starting pitchers, apparently.
  12. I don't buy much into the "buy high/sell low" idea, as if the other teams don't know about BABIP and regression to the mean. But it's still odd timing.
  13. Our regular OF has two extra base hits in 14 games, and somehow this made it worse.
  14. Because I like semantic arguments about whether players meet vaguely defined standards. Also I'm still cranky about being so wrong about Travis Wood.
  15. Well that's kind of interesting. Hoyer sure does love his fancy roster manueverings.
  16. Vitters drew a walk and Jackson had another no-K night.
  17. I'm not exactly ready to label Dempster as "pretty good" either. Average.
  18. At 3-11, with no change in projected winning percentage, you can already knock three wins off of whatever preseason win total you projected them to. That puts the high 60s within reach for a lot of projections. Do some fire sales and get some more negative variance, and 100 losses isn't out of the question.
  19. Ian Stewart with one of the best 0-for-4s you will ever see.
  20. Dolis threw some pretty sliders that inning.
  21. If the baseball reporters in this town were any good, we'd be getting an article soon speculating on how much lost revenue this means.
