  1. It's gonna take awhile. 2015 could become 2016 next year and 2017 the year after that. Just close enough to keep some of the fans calm, far enough away to fend of accountability. God, you can't even be negative right; why would they bother riding that out? If this team is mediocre or sucks after 2015 I could easily see Theo or Hoyer or both quitting. Instead you have to go right back to your stupid, smelly "they want a [expletive] team for some fat reason I don't actually believe" nonsense. I'll walk you through this. "2015 could become 2016 next year" That'd be 2014. "and 2017 the year after that" That'd be 2015. So if this team is still mediocre or sucks in 2015, no, I don't think they'll just walk away. As long as they keep the prospects moving slow enough (not that it isn't a good thing to do that), they can hold off accountability through 2015, I'd guess.

  3. I'm going to be watching a lot of Braves' baseball this year. Amazingly, they're good and they didn't have to suck for a half-decade to do it. Not sure how that works. Front office with ambition.
  4. Everything cool that DeJesus did? You wrecked it.
  5. What an awesome way to start the winning rally. Yes, please.
  6. OK. That wasn't as funny as I thought it'd be. Never mind.
  7. It would be kind of funny if Camp blew this so spectacularly that he got booted out of the closer role. The further down you go, the more likely each guy is going to pitch himself out of it. We could have eight closers before May.
  8. I'm glad I didn't say anything about Affeldt being a guy we should have signed as a free agent. when he was coming into the game.
  9. That's probably not a bad time to bunt, honestly.
  10. OK, if nothing else did, that's got to cement Lillibridge's impending DFA.
  11. Being the best defensive team in the Cactus League doesn't carry as much cache as it used to.
  12. I wonder if that day we spent arguing about which foot to hit the bag should have been spent discussing blocking pitches. (no, I'm not letting that one go. It's in the rotation now).
  13. That ish happens. So don't walk people before it does.
  14. I wish I could complain about the decision to use Bowden in a high-leverage situation. But if not him, who?
  15. Someone forgot to put a "blocking the ball" chapter in The Cubs Way.
  16. Ian strikes out in his first Iowa AB.
  17. Holy [expletive], the thought never crossed my mind he was actually a prospect at some point. #93 in BA's pre-2007, but still. Somewhere, some fans were doing saying "I can't wait until Lillibridge comes up and fills that spot for years." I was looking on a Cleveland board for comments on Rondon, and they had a "this is how awesome we'll be when we're done rebuilding" post from a few years ago that had Valbuena starting at 2b and Rondon at the front of their rotation.
