  1. The Cardinals have been in 8 of 14 NLCSs.
  2. If I were a manager, minor-league talent would be pretty far from my mind unless it was really right on the cusp of breaking into the majors. These guys are 4-6 years away from their primes. We could be three managers down the line by then.
  3. So we're looking at either the Dodgers or the Cardinals in the World Series. Awesome.
  4. What did the Royals look like a few years ago? Or was some of theirs tied up in pitching?
  5. I'm relieved. It just seemed weird to be paying some absurd amount for him.
  6. Beaz Bryant Almora Soler
  7. Might as well save that so you can CP it into the real game threads in 2015.
  8. I want to draft another hitter at No. 4 next year and just put up 1000 runs a year and never have to care about pitching.
  9. Gary Sheffield is 25th all-time in Runs Created. It's not exactly an insult.
  10. He belongs in our Top 10.
  11. I thought I saw $1.5 for the first year, $1.5 for the second year, and then either $500k buyout of $2.5 for a third year.
  12. thats one way of putting it The PCL is a big-ish league. Way bigger than, like, the NWL or something.
  13. How do you explain situations like the Cleveland Indians where they went from a 90+ loss team one season to a 90+ win without making any major changes other than the manager? They have to be at least part of the reason for that, right? http://bit.ly/19dAudJ
  14. It's a manager, it's all stupid and irrational emotional hokum.
  15. You guys don't think the Yankees have a bit of "If you don't love being a Yankee, you aren't good enough to be a Yankee" attitude in them? I totally think they'll pull the offer.
  16. I can see that, which is fine, usually means the right/smart decision was made. I'm not completely convinced history bears that out.
  17. My primary memory of Joe Girardi is that Baseball Prospectus study "Field General or Backstop" that tried to measure catcher influence on pitcher performance and decided that there probably wasn't a significant difference, but if there was, then Girardi was far and away the worst.
  18. A "flier" does you no good until you give him playing time to see if you got anything out of it, and that is very much not free.
  19. I think that's called "grooming" and it's kind of a no-no.
  20. Now? You wanted something else before? I wouldn't have minded seeing him complete the no hitter. There is still a game 5 for the Pirates to win. b&
  21. I really like Alvarez, mostly because he's a good, lazy downside comp for either Bryant or Baez.
  22. It kills me to see a fellow Aggie pitching so great for the [expletive] Cardinals. We (as a fan base) spend all our time obsessing over draft position and place all our hopes in drafting specialists as our front office. The Cardinals are busy winning division titles and playoff games, and then in their spare time they get equal or better players to us drafting a dozen spots later.
  23. I hate Michael Wacha and what he represents so much.
  24. All it'll take is one win to snap out of that, I think. Cubs have lost 9 straight playoff games, all by multiple runs. That's enough to spook people.
