  1. When's the last time one of their first-round picks hit it big? Like sonny gray is doing? He's pitched 105 innings. On the list of ways they built their team, he's a blip. The A's built their team with savvy trades, late-round picks emerging and value free-agent signings. They may be low-payroll, but they are doing things very differently from our plan.
  2. When's the last time one of their first-round picks hit it big?
  3. If you've ever drafted a player who turned out to help you. The A's don't belong in there either.
  4. It's a nice start, but I don't want to rush and overreact to a small sample.
  5. Because he has a whole bunch of PAs since then with less than that, and because those came with an unusually high BABIP.
  6. That doesn't sound like something I'd say.
  7. Teams that are not in playoff position as of today: Tampa Bay, Washington, Kansas City, Pittsburgh Teams that are: New York Yankees, Milwaukee, Chicago White Sox Building the "right way" is overrated.
  8. At 28 he'll be on the decline. Shortstops peak early.
  9. It's a nice start, but I don't want to rush and overreact to a small sample.
  10. Bryant 0-for-2. Javy regains No. 1 prospect spot.
  11. Have to imagine Amaya will be pretty high on the list when he ends the season with his 1.046 OPS. He's in the bus crash. The bus crash is gonna take out a lot of guys.
  12. Our top prospects list for 2015: 1. No. 4 pick 2. Albert Almora 3. Corey Black 4. Armando Rivero 5. Josh Vitters (still has eligibility) 6. Dustin Geiger
  13. Armando Rivero is awesome. He's gonna be our closer by like this time next year.
  14. I don't want him. He's hitting in the #@#$ Korean League. That's not even hitting in the Cuban or Japanese leagues, it's a step below that. But I reserve the right to be mad later if he turns out to be good.
  15. I didn't say I wasn't being negative. I said I was being *on-topic* negative. There's a lot to be negative right now in the minor leagues. Basically every one of our hitting prospects swings-and-misses way too much or can't draw walks. And our good pitching prospects are all either hurt or wild or both.
  16. I am revelling in the fact that it's not just me disappointed that all our prospects are having crummy Aprils. For once it's not only me noticing things going badly. That *is* on topic.
  17. Most of us were talking about how all the prospects had crummy Aprils. The only person to bring up something non-minor league related, something processy, was whoever brought up the future rotation. So that guy's getting banned, the rest of us are cool.
  18. sucks, reliever, sucks, really sucks, really sucks, reliever, probably going to get hurt, mediocre prospect, and not even sure to be a pitcher.
  19. I have a PhD in doom bonery and I did my dissertation on misery porn. I know what I'm talking about.
  20. B. Joy is always preferable, just frequently in short supply.
  21. why the hell is that glorious? Because in the absence of joy, you have to learn to revel in misery.
  22. That's a 77-win rotation if I ever saw one. That's stupid. You forgot to include the guys we got for trading Garza. I seem to remember we weren't supposed to project the rotation going forward without the near-ready elite SP prospects we were definitely getting for Garza.
