  1. We're 20th in fWAR by pitchers and our minor-league pitching is considered to be in the vicinity of average. They have committed some serious resources to it and it does seem to be helping, but we have such a very long way to go. Whiffing on their big FA investments pitching-wise is hurting.
  2. Win streaks make me feel like http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lgok7ebh5M1qc46e7o1_400.gif
  3. Either way, it makes me feel marginally better. I thought Iowa would trip Hendricks up this year more than it has. Now I'm looking forward to seeing him in the MLB rotation.
  4. Wait, that can't be right. MinorLeagueCentral says that Baez had 21 Ks in 86 PAs in his first taste of Daytona in 2012. Or did you just mean 2013? OK, yeah, that's his 2013 totals.
  5. First 78 PA at Daytona: .208/.231/.431/.662, 23 K That makes me feel a little better.
  6. And an inch the other way and Gordon Bombay would have missed completely. His HR/OFB% is 23.1%, right in line with his career average of 24.6%. A few extra HRs might make his OPS look more palatable, but it wouldn't change the underlying problems. Obligatory caveat: I still think he'll adjust soon and start being awesome again.
  7. Seriously, Javy. 76 PAs is really pushing it on the "lol, he always does this at a new level before going into God mode" front.
  8. I bet Almora woulda had four walks today, and now they're gone forever.
  9. Post moar
  10. Still leaving too many pitches up, and he got some very borderline calls for big Ks, but he was throwing strikes which is huge for him.

  12. Sounds like a job for Vitters. Vitters is done in my book, 606 OPS so far this year in Iowa, 25 K's in 85 AB's He needs to start blaming it on an injury soon to make sure he gets a free pass.
  13. Knocking the Cardinals under .500 would feel pretty sweet.
  14. And now Boston has the lead. Fun game to watch.
  15. Arrieta got some of the same calls earlier in the game on called Ks.
  16. Lake takes every swing like he's trying to crush a fastball down the middle. When he gets one, it's beautiful.
  17. Arrieta's stuff is there and he's not walking anybody. He's still leaving way too many balls up, but he can be effective-ish like this. My optimism is creeping up.
  18. Olt just needs an 0fer4 today to get his OBP below .200.
  19. 90% of the league couldn't hit that opening from that angle on the forehand.

  21. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Trigger+warning That rekindled some bad memories.
