So I've been going on a lot of first dates with women I meet on online dating sites since the divorce was finalized. Last month, there was this woman who seemed smart, nerdy in the way I like, and her pictures were that perfect "below-average looking but not completely revolting" level of attractiveness that I aim for. She shows up for our date, and she looked way better than her pictures. Like, at least average or maybe even above-average for downstate Illinois. This made me extremely insecure and I felt very weird about being on a date with her. At the end of the dinner, I walked her back to her car and was relieved it was over. But then she went in for a hug after saying goodnight. I simultaneously backed away, looked startled and blurted out "Oh, are we hugging?!" I actually did get a second date after that, but not a third. That is more or less how Epstein would react if Samardzija seriously approached him about a contract extension at this point.
