  1. On paper, they're barely better than the Cubs.
  2. Apparently good news comes in threes.
  3. He's a football player over 30. That's probably as far as he can stand up.
  4. I just don't know how to reconcile all the awesome things Bryant does with a 35% whiff rate in the PCL.
  5. It's odd how little I remember of that Atlanta series. I remember Borowski getting the final K. I remember the hype surrounding the Maddux-Prior matchup in (I think?) Game 3 at Wrigley. I think Alex Gonzalez hit a few HRs?
  6. That wasn't after the potential concussion, was it?
  7. My guess: It depends on whether the Cubs fall behind in the series or not. The first time it's 0-1 or we come back down 0-2, we revert back to that.
  8. Do I get to know that Theo/Jed would draft like [expletive] badasses? I honestly don't remember and would have likely been thrilled with either. Have they? I mean, sure, Kris Bryant being amazingly awesome (and assuming the contact issues don't Olt/Jackson him) and that pretty much overshadows everything else. And maybe I'm being overly pessimistic on Almora. And I like their "bat first pick, then volume of arms" approach. But I just don't know if I see enough to think their drafts are *that* great. As of right now, I'd put the over/under on useful MLBers out of the 2012 draft at 1.5. Same for 2013. That's solid but not extraordinary.
  9. People who think of factual statements as trolling reveal their own character.
  10. Their front office owned our front office in "not finishing last" yet again. lol why do you think this stupidity you like to spout is going to work on me? I keep hoping it gets through to you that finishing in last place is bad.
  11. Their front office owned our front office in "not finishing last" yet again.
  12. oh good lord did that feel good
  13. Wanted Friedman more then and want him more now. Epstein was on my list of "saber-savvy ideal candidates," but he wasn't at the top of that list.
  14. Isn't that what the Japanese owners always say right up until the day before they post the player? I feel like we've gone through that a few times.
  15. I thought it would be fun to completely tank the draft and then actually play seriously the rest of the year, going after waiver pickups and such. We should be getting better every week. I got 13 points from post-draft pickups this week. Unrelated: Anyone interested in Cutler for an equal-value RB?
  16. Cross-posting to/r/thathappened
  17. It's the same season we always have. If we somehow get and stay healthy, we can be dangerous, probably headed for 8 or 9 wins and just barely out.
  18. Apparently linebackers are like the running game in that they don't matter anymore.
  19. ballsy, but not dumb I'm sticking with dumb.
  20. Even if you reestablish you can't be the first to touch the ball.
  21. That is an awesome result to an odd play call.
  22. It's weird that you get to repeat the down five yards back rather than it being incomplete. That seems better.
