  1. Put me down for "His BABIP went up." Kiley McDaniel had him at No. 10 precisely, in the same "45 FV" group as Jeimer Candelario and Victor Caratini. You may disagree, but it's not remotely indefensible to put him behind 10 guys in this system.
  2. Dammit, fine. I'll get on the slurping Maddon's coolness nuts train.
  3. I really just don't care much for McKinney and might not put him in the top 10. He's kinda good at drawing walks and kinda bad at power and everything else is just meh and ordinary. He seems perfectly on track for classic Matt Murton career path: Interesting prospect to "guy we think would be a hidden value if he could get a starting job somewhere" to 'Maybe he can be a reserve outfielder" to "Man, I don't get why that guy isn't in the majors somewhere" to nobody caring by 27.
  4. Oops, I forgot to give a dismissive to Almora. Umm, CF Darwin.
  5. There was no question in my mind who you voted for. Sometime in the next three years he's going to put up a season akin to peak Marmol.
  6. I voted for the dood who struck out 100 in 65 innings at AA and AAA last year over Matt Murton and some random teenage infielder.
  7. That is one hell of a dropoff from 4 to 5.
  8. I just remembered that I don't care about strikeouts and WAR and I need Javier Baez to be our starting 2b.
  9. He isn't going from very few people outside of the Cubs organization thinking he has a chance to even be fringe acceptable in the majors to possibly above-average.
  10. Our new ace punking Cardinals repeatedly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpncgKRMvBM This guy is going to be the next Carlos Marmol:
  11. He's kinda migrated more anti-Cutler as the offseason went on. His thing is "I trust Ryan Pace to make a decision, but I think he should make the decision to cut ties with Cutler now and start fresh."
  12. Prospects are fun and all, but this guy is coming off a 6-WAR season and is going to hit 40 HRs this year: And this guy put up 5 in 25 starts and isn't even our best pitcher now:
  13. I am already bored with spring training and would like some real news. Besides the general anticipation of the dong-beating we are going to lay on the NL Central this year, this ST should be more fun than most because we have a ton of interesting roster decisions to make. If you lay out the roster with just the absolute, 100% no-doubt guys, it's Coghlan/Fowler/Soler (Denorfia/XXXXX) XXXX/Castro/XXXXX/Rizzo (XXXXX/XXXXX) Montero (Ross) Lester/Arrieta/Hammel/XXXXX/XXXXX Rondon/Ramirez/Strop/Motte/XXXXX/XXXXX/XXXX Sweeney is almost certainly the fifth outfielder, but that might take awhile to become official. Once we know what's happening with Baez, the infield sorts itself out. Hendricks is about a 99% lock for the fourth spot in the rotation. The fifth spot is going to be the best part of the spring, and we'll see guys slowly get eliminated leading into the final week or two. Who the hell knows what they'll do with the bullpen. And finally, we pretty much have to do something with Castillo at some point in the spring.
  14. Accurate.
  15. I just watched a Soler highlight video so I'm going with him.
  16. When he actually hits the ball it is such a beautiful thing to behold. If he actually had something resembling acceptable contact ability it wouldn't even be fair so I guess it makes sense. I just want to hit 250 HRs this year.
  17. TIL there are a crap-ton of "2015 Cubs hype" videos on Youtube. I am quite hype. And go ahead and put Baez at 2b no matter what.
  18. Because the deadline might be too late and you come up just a bit short. The Cubs should be trying *really* hard to avoid a scenario where they are just a game or three short of making the playoffs, and that's a pretty significant possibility right now. For all we know, Addison Russell could be as valuable as Domonic Brown or Jesus Montero. Given the state of the the organization, I think trading for 2015 wins at the expense of future wins should be an extremely high priority. Am I saying I'd no-doubt, slam-dunk do Russell for Hamels? Nope. But I'd think about it, and I don't think it's as laughable as some do.
  19. lol You're getting Hamels for 4 or 5 years, Russell for 6.5. The years of control are almost identical, and Hamels is really good at baseball *right now*. 2.5 years isn't almost identical, and you're also paying one guy 23 million and the other pennies (for awhile). Why not just keep the potential awesomeness of Addison Russell for 6.5 years and use the extra 23 million saved to pick up a rental at the deadline and then sign someone as good as Hamels in the offseason? I don't think the extra years you'd have to give a FA over Hamels are worth Russell. Depending on how they manage his callup, they could be getting Russell for 6.95 years. Or 6.01. And Hamels might be 5 years. It's anywhere from 1.01-2.95 years.
  20. These guys are there way too early. Gonna wear themselves out by August.
  21. I wear briefs.
  22. Think big picture, guys. McCown for Cutler is committing to a Theo-style rebuild. Gotta lose to win.
  23. Armando Rivero emerges as our best reliever in the second half. The bullpen has a terrible April as several of the guys we assume will be awesome fall to "lol relief pitchers who even knows."
  24. I'm not even getting to the part where I consider whether or not it makes sense value-wise. I just don't want to.
  25. i'm confident we will, oddly enough, in large part because of the utility he'll have for Maddon in non-pitching roles He's a really crappy hitter. Using him in non-pitching roles is a novelty.
