  1. Spring stats don't matter even a little but dat 1.900 OPS.
  2. watch him actually be really awesome this year tim will feel ashamed for doubting him I remember when we traded for him and I refuse to even include him as part of the value we got in return because <90mph=irrelevant.
  3. Spring + Minors + Majors + Playoffs Kris Bryant HRs: Over/under 55?
  4. I'm fine holding the line here. Don't want to lose any more.
  5. Cutler will never be good, but don't sell him short - he's average, not below average Maybe three years ago. Right now, he's not even that close to average.
  6. They didn't have much choice, but I'm not exactly celebrating that we have a below-average quarterback and no prospects for improving at the position in the next few years.
  7. Terry Boers being weird and Bernstein laughing with him >>>>>>> Bernstein baiting callers so he can yell at them.
  8. In b4 7-9.
  9. i'm thisclose to letting olt fool me He's not fooling me, but I don't like Coghlan either so who cares.
  10. We'll never know if it's true because draft information that isn't actual picks is always suspect, but man did the Astros ever do us a favor if we really did have Appel over Bryant.
  11. Anyone important get hurt? Then we won.
  12. Meatball celebrations over getting intentionally worse at the QB position is going to be something we're just going to have to live with. http://31.media.tumblr.com/ac75fef70598eb956f03bcbc72829399/tumblr_n7d2bhjXqw1smcbm7o1_250.gif
  13. It loses something in the translation from binary.
  14. I dunno if there's a stat I trust for QBs. It seems impossible to divorce their statistical performance from scheme, personnel and *especially* game context. Pro Football Outsiders had him at a negative VOA and 25th in QBR last year, I guess. I'd say about 40%? He's got a chance if he's here and the new coaching staff is competent in ways that the last one wasn't, but he really looked like horsepoop a lot last year and defenses on our schedule really know how to confuse him and/or induce him into turnovers.
  15. I think people are denial about how fast guys like Marshall and Forte and even Cutler can get old and bad. I'm not gung-ho about a "rebuild," but if they want to risk getting out too early rather than too late on some of those guys and still try to put together a competitive team next year with the resources they gain, cool with me.
  16. Prediction: Armando Rivero puts up more career WAR than 7 of the top 12 prospects on this list. At least.
  17. Soler just gunned a dude down at third, very nice.
  18. Radio guys were talking about how teams were going to challenge Bryant inside until he proved he could handle it, and they had barely finished the sentence when he took an inside pitch out to center.
  19. Yeah. If anything, I'm surprised it took this long to completely turn over the 2006 defense.
  20. re: lineups We are employing the guy who did most of the best public work on lineups, and we seem to be following his theories. Best hitters 2nd and 4th, maybe pitcher 8th. It doesn't make a huge difference, but I like it.
  21. Well, what it's like to have two plodding, injured receivers that DBs dare to go more than 10 yards downfield is pretty fresh in our minds. Did they get incapable or did Trestman [expletive] it up? Not a single person complained about redundant WRs when they both went for 1200+ the previous year. No way to know for sure, but I'm OK with gaining a fifth-round pick and a ton of cap space to forgo finding out.

  23. Doesn't bother me. Draft picks for old, injured, cap-heavy players usually isn't a bad thing. And he was redundant with Jeffery.
  24. Yu Darvish leaves his start with triceps soreness.
