  1. damnit i hate when he does things to make me less excited about good guys doing things It feels good to be able to root for Olt this year because his likely role and expectations are all in line with his talent.

  3. If I had to stand where he's standing, I'd at least want a glove or something.
  4. I went with the guy who is going to contribute in the majors this year over a bunch of dreamy teenagers.
  5. sfgiants.com appears to have free video for that game.
  6. Going with A's because of broadcast teams, but lineups did not make it an easy choice.
  7. He's laying it on awfully thick if he really thought it was a non-issue.
  8. Sounds to me like he's at least a little nervous that the PA might push this one.
  9. Good for them for going for it. If we can last long enough for Kane to come back, it's a superteam.
  10. I think Fangraphs switched their projected standings to ZIPS, because we're down to 82 wins. But still edging out the field for that second WC spot.
  11. Neifi's greatest Cubs highlight came as a member of the Rockies.
  12. It's less impressive when the promotion wasn't deserved and the player sucks at the new level. The fact that he was at A+ was already impressive. He killed A+ for a little while before the promotion too, IIRC. I'll side with the smart baseball people running our organization with the good player development track record over the hairyducked idiot with spinach in his teeth on this one. It's a chip. Maybe they decided he was hopeless offensively so it didn't matter how fast they promoted him.
  13. That feels like exactly what we need.

  15. The only blown lead Ar-Riv will ever have.
  16. Armando Rivero with an early lead in the voting.
  17. He sucks, he's Josh Vitters with defense And less power. CF Darwin Barney.
  18. Can't we just give them all to Alcantara?
  19. I'm still skeptical that they really intend to give any real PT at 3b to La Stella.
  20. You sure? I'm pretty sure we got the extra year with him. He started his first game in game 12 of the 1998 season And the season started March 31 that year, so that's 14 days in. He should have been fine. And that adds up with Baseball-Reference, which has him with 169 days of service time at the end of each year.

  22. This is an egregious example of prospect creep.
  23. The absolute date is like 12 or 13 days into the season. But you usually give yourself another week to give plausible deniability, because holding him down purely for service-time reasons is against the rules and he can file a grievance to get the service time restored. Pretty sure this is the correct answer, folks. To get super technical, a year of service time is 172 days. That's also the most you can accrue in any given season. The season typically lasts 183 days, but that can vary a bit from year to year. This year, it runs from April 5 to Oct 4, which is exactly 183. So as of April 17, there will only be 171 service days available left in the year. So that's technically the earliest they could call him up, except for the grievance thing.
  24. Do you get the difference between "I'm curious if he can maintain it in the majors" and "I don't understand why"?
