  1. This. It's not like it's a gimme putt or something. League average is like 50%.
  2. Maddux never had one either. The parallels continue.
  3. how about a [jinx removed] for Kyle Hendricks?
  4. Kerry Wood looks exactly the right amount of sad for being on the Cleveland Indians.
  5. Afternoon would be awesome.
  6. DID YOU HEAR THAT EVERYBODY? NUTS AND GUM IS *THREATENING* US? Say good bye to these, because it's the last time you'll ever see them! Spring break!
  7. Never backtrack. Move on to the Clenching Anus of Stubbornness. I call those "emphasis asterisks"
  8. This thread to me just says "Mojo wants you to bring back The Crushing Fist of Logic ."
  9. This. He's a very smart guy, and he knows what kind of coverage his readers want.
  10. Another one of those dumb things where meatballs get to complain no matter how you answer the question. "How do you feel about your playing time? Are you a selfish jerk who wants more, or are you a disinterested jerk who just cashes the checks and doesn't want to be on the field?"
  11. Arrieta is having one of those sports performances that would make me mutter, restart the season and turn up the sliders if it were a video game.
  12. i didn't and wouldn't have thought we were even close to the 2003 team. Unrelated: I noticed that Mark Prior's 2003 had a higher fWAR than Arrieta's 2015. [expletive] Dusty Baker.
  13. You can heart your own? I'm totally doing that from now on.
  14. I completely agree, but I suspect we'll continue to see it happen. Just so we make this clear: I'm not saying I think Baez will suck in the future. I'm simply saying I don't care that he's spent a couple of weeks spraying line drives in the majors.
  15. That's a rather silly exaggeration of what I've said. Some peripherals are proven to be predictive, others aren't. Like, for example... Line drive percentage. It's notoriously fickle and not particularly predictive except over insanely long samples (multiple years). An extreme good LD% and a high BABIP are measuring the *same luck*. If you see his AAA performance as an indication he's ready to be the starting 2b, fine. I think that's defensible.
  16. I assumed that was baked into your .400 projection
  17. Sure. But if everything else stays more or less the same and the .412 BABIP normalizes, he's going a lot further south than .290.
  18. I did no such thing. I don't see it. Those still aren't the peripherals of a starting infielder in MLB.
  19. Feel good about Arrieta. Feel good about Rizzo. Feel good about Schwarber and Russell. Feel good about there being a Cubs playoff game on the schedule.
  20. I just hope if we lose it's like 5-1 or something. I don't want to take a two-run lead into the ninth and have a three-run implosion.
  21. I'm happy there's no way we can blow a two-game lead with one to clinch.
  22. An endless cycle: "Baez's performance is really encouraging!" "Eh, not really, peripherals blah blah blah." "Well, his performance is way too small a sample size to mean anything."
  23. Then they are a good way to kick off marriage.
