  1. Rob Drake is tonight's HP umpire. He's generous away to RH and inside to LH, and a bit stingy the opposite way. That's not ideal. Odds of calling a strike compared to league average vs. LHB (umpire/catcher's perspective) http://www.baseballheatmaps.com/graph/cache/88jnu87e9fhn665fhfjcvjofs240LWM.png vs. RHB http://www.baseballheatmaps.com/graph/cache/88jnu87e9fhn665fhfjcvjofs240RWM.png
  2. OK, that one melted my icy heart a little.
  3. There are times the "Epstein changed everything!" narrative gets out of hand, but this isn't one of them. The organization was at least 10 years out of date and suffering from some serious neglect when Ricketts and then Epstein came along, and they've fixed that.
  4. Even beyond that, it's not a particularly impressive community. It's less GatewayRedbirds and more CardsTalk.
  5. If you have MLB.tv, it's worth it to dig in there and get the audio from the Cardinals radio broadcast just for the call of the Javybomb. It's described as a jam shot pop-up that mysteriously makes it into the bleachers due to the incredible wind.
  6. That's surprising considering it'd be a 5:07 local start if LA wins. if it in LA, Ill be there. Just got my tickets off stubhub. I thought about it, but Dodger Stadium is terrifying.
  7. Wasn't one of our whackjob trolls talking about becoming sellers in mid-July if we had a bad week?
  8. Makes sense to me to start Lester. The first three are getting two starts each no matter what, and this balances out the rest a bit.
  9. meh happens to me too with a lot of this stuff. I expected it to happen when I saw the last pitch of the series but it didn't quite. If we win the NLCS, it will. it happened to me hearing some [expletive] radio highlights on the way to work That's it for me too. I don't even remember when Pat Hughes started doing Cubs radio, but it's been long enough that he's a constant in my life. Hearing him call this stuff gets to me in Cat's in the Cradle kinda way.
  10. Yeah it'd be better off if people just ignored him. He's a townie sportswriter, he has no real audience, no sway. No different than a hundred other people who you can find being Wrong On The Internet about a given topic. IIRC, he's not even a sportswriter. He covers local government or something.
  11. Awesome. Even more awesome: That's because the Cubs personally took them out.
  12. I don't think it really matters. Seven games just isn't enough for the differences to meaningfully influence the outcome. I guess I'd rather have the Mets, just because that means the games are earlier.
  13. Nick Vlahos is gonna parlay this into some kind of shitty book deal or something.
  14. Accidentally my ass He was aiming for his crotch.
  15. Have the radio highlights been posted anywhere?
  16. I wish GWRB did the "Obscure player just hit a home run for the Cubs" meme.
  17. I think I know the answer, but I'm gonna go watch all the highlights from today again just to be sure.
  18. Kyle Schwarber thinks that's a little embarrassing.
  19. Guys we just knocked the Cardinals out of the playoffs at Wrigley with a two-day record-setting dong party.
  20. Suck it forever and ever and ever. The 2015 Cardinals will always be remembered for choking on our dongs. #wearegood
