    Offensively, he's doing a lot of things well and it's being covered up by a .204 BABIP. Walks are up, strikeouts are down. He's still a dumpster fire defensively so he's not high on my list of guys I'm excited about, but he's at least got the vague raw potential to dong his bad defense away, and he definitely belongs on an MLB roster regardless.

    I feel a little bad for Pirates fans. The worst feeling in sports is seeing your team's season end the exact same way over and over again. And right now, another Wild Card game is the best they can hope for. When Fangraphs updates tonight, they'll be projected to win the division by 15 games.

    I think everyone knows at this point that when you are dealing with baseball players, there is always that 1-in-10000 chance that they go supernova. Anyone who would have said around 1995 that "Sammy Sosa will never have two 60 HR seasons" would have holding a completely reasonable opinion and would have been utterly wrong. That said, I've come around to the fact that I don't know anything about projecting baseball players and fell for the allure of believing there was a numbers-y formula to it that could be cracked by reading enough Fangraphs articles.
