  1. Even year magic Bumgarner fellating, Samardzija celebrating them eliminating us, Dusty Baker getting to a WS on our backs, Texas Rangers refuting run differential. So many potential nightmares
  2. Why do you even post Now tell me to delete my account
  3. Better win the first two, because Arrieta vs either of these guys in game 3 is a pretty likely loss
  4. Yeah, as much as I don't want to see the Mets get another chance, I really want to see the Magic Bumgarner rep to blow up
  5. I thought I was ok with the high-variance nature of the system, but I'm not. Neither of these teams deserve any chance to advance past the Cubs. They should thank us for taking the time to play some exhibitions and let their young players learn from watching us as we warm up for the NLCS.
  6. Both those stats are dumb.
  7. That place is seriously the worst
  8. I really like thinking about how this team not only went 103-58, but they did it with their foot noticeably off the gas for pretty much the entire season.
  9. Yeah, maybe I'm just Kyling. But I'm wondering if maybe the reflexive Cutler defense is a lot like the reflexive "we don't need a rebuild" sentiment that was supposed to seperate us from the meatballs in 2010 and 2011. QB fumbles and holding on to the ball too long had a non-zero amount to do with losing the first two games and not having them were part of why we looked better today. Nah, I'm probably just Kyling
  10. Hoyer had a better game today than Cutler has so far this year.
  11. It was nice going a whole game without a crucial turnover
  12. i kind of wouldn't hate unleashing kyle on them I tried last year and got as far as trying patiently to explain why ERA in the raw isn't a great way to judge pitchers and they just couldn't get it.
  13. Soup Club is a bleedcubbieblue weirdo thing but that was good
  14. its too early to say if theo has been better than hendry Wins in the NLCS or later per Cubs season: Hendry: 0.38 Theo: 0.00 Q.E.D.
  15. Cool. I thought there was a chance he was waiting to see if we won this year and could claim mission accomplished.
  16. Mets fans are repeatedly, insistently dumb about the injury nexus and why their bets on young pitching keep blowing up on them, but they aren't wrong about how freakish it is for the Cubs pitching staff, few of which are prime age, to be this healthy over several years. I have no way of knowing how much of it is design and how much is luck
  17. I'm pretty much transferred fully into rooting for draft position. No late runs to blow it this year please
  18. A win and some help tonight eliminates the Pirates. Not as much fun as eliminating them last year was, but it'd be nice to make that an annual thing.
  19. I would assume it depends on whether they need to win on Sunday or not, which might not be evident until the night before. I'd like to take a moment to complain about how awful and dumb it is to end the regular season on a Sunday and not open the playoffs until Friday. I know they are gaming for weekend TV ratings, but in my dream world you play both WC games the day after the season and open the playoffs the next day. If you have to cram some tiebreakers in, find a way.
  20. I can see it if I squint. As frustrating as White has been, it does usually take receivers a year of game time to come into their own. And I think we've gotten a decent number of useful guys out of each of the last two drafts. I can imagine a world where these guys continue to develop, and we another good draft with a high pick next year to the mix, and maybe a few less injuries. Basically, we're short two OL, a second receiver, a playmaker on D and a stand-out or two in the secondary. *Maybe* the recent first-round picks on the roster can fill two of those holes through development, and you can fill a couple more with high picks in next year's draft. There's just so many ways it can go wrong. Cutler is going to be 34 next year and has taken more of a beating than any other QB in the last decade. The offensive line is at least two guys short. Maybe White doesn't turn into anything and Jeffery leaves via free agency. Maybe Floyd never becomes any sort of impact playmaker. Maybe a guy like Goldman or Long becomes injured in a way that they don't come back full-strength ever and a position you thought was filled becomes a hole. They're basically so bad they have no margin for error if they want to be not bad even two seasons after this one.
  21. The next logical step in the nba tanking trend.
  22. Uhh ever heard of NSBBLol or whatever the horsefeathers it was I was thinking that was after he was banned and also I wanted to make a Khalil Greene reference
  23. Did meph get banned? I just assumed Khalil Greene's mom finally convinced him it wasn't happening and he had no more reason to post.
