  1. Hmm. Marmol looks like a pitcher who has been overused this season...
  2. You really shouldn't be allowed to be a pitcher named Balfour. You might as well be a goalie named Steve Puckgoesin or a placekicker named John Shankedit.
  3. We need to win this one by three or more. I wonder what the record is for series in a season where you lose but outscore your opponent.
  4. Did you have a major-league pitcher trying to throw the ball in a way that makes it hard to bunt?
  5. Playing for one run...stupid. Giving away outs...stupid. Me choosing to be a Cubs fan as a small child...stupid.
  6. I would pay a million interweb dollars to have someone document the results, good and bad, when we are "aggressive" and have them show Lou how often this hurts us.
  7. Cue predictable moaning from everyone that a borderline call went against the Cubs, because they can see how a ball passed through a three-dimensional strikezone from a distant camera vantage point, flattened to 2-dimensions and skewed to one side.
  8. We are getting really good at losing by one run. My inner stathead knows that's a good sign, technically. My inner fan hates it.
  9. Two-strike count, pitch in the dirt, a Cub doesn't swing, and I'm not surprised. I love this season.
  10. Why? What's not fun about it? it's fun to update a guy's every at-bat in June when he's not going to actually do what they're updating his every at-bat about? BP had an article projecting it at about a 12% chance. It's not impossible.
  11. Runner on third, less than two outs. Theriot is toast.
  12. If we're really willing to give up almost any package of minor leaguers, I'd say it'd be borderline whether we'd have enough. Not impossible.
  13. Where did the idea that Crisp is good at baseball come from?
  14. Are you serious? He would have been out by a mile It would have been close. What are the odds of a bad throw or a slow tag? Better than the roughly 25% chance that Edmonds gets a hit?
