  1. dude, his foot isn't a hundred percent...what more do you want? To catch balls that major league CFers should catch, or for us to get a better CFer. Although I do pat myself on the back for being one of the few around here who didn't believe his bat was completely shot.
  2. Not that it takes away from his productivity today, but that's a ball a major-league CF should catch. Edmonds is really bad defensively.
  3. I still say hidden shoulder injury.
  4. Edmonds one away from the natural hattrick.
  5. Relatively, it is good. Very good. I had serious concerns about losing him for the season. Plus the rest wouldn't hurt him. He's not out of the woods yet. A minor tear doesn't always stay minor, even if you let him rest awhile. Then it is season over, and possibly more. Leave it to Kyle for encouraging words. Dude! Come on. This anti-negativity vibe is getting out of control. Yesterday, I heard it for saying the Cubs didn't look like a 100-win team anymore, and today I get it for just saying "he isn't out of the woods yet." Anyone who makes a living throwing baseballs but has a shoulder problems is not out of the woods.

  7. I thought a strain was just a pull. A pull is a tear. When you pull or stretch a muscle too far, there are micro tears in the muscle fibers.
  8. Cue the debate over whether this counts as a "strain" or a "tear." All strains are tears. This isn't good, but it doesn't sound horrible.
  9. My guilty pleasure is reading other teams' gamethreads after a Cubs win (not posting, that's trolling. Just reading). This classic signature from a Sox fan: "Watch out Cubs, your not the only team in Chi-town!" They make it too easy.

  11. Lol, I opened up a window and typed in "Ballgame." just so I could hit post really fast and be the first to say it if Ramirez got one. I barely even had it typed in when he did it...
  12. Sorry I'm late. Looked like I missed a good game. He didn't go, but it was a borderline pitch anyways, so it's all good.
  13. Wow, Kyle, I thought you were the one telling everyone to keep the faith when they were awful last year because their numbers said they weren't. Does one bad outing by the bullpen really change that much? This was bound to happen at some point. Again, all I said is the 100-win talk should be over. Marmol is showing clear signs of attrition, and he was a huge reason I thought this could be a 100-win team. We'll still cruise to 90 wins and the playoffs. But without a dominant Marmol, this team looks noticeably worse.
  14. Dude - seriously. Relax. Why? Things are looking much worse than they did not too long ago. I'm not saying we're going to fall apart and miss the playoffs or anything. But this no longer looks like a potential 100-win season. Even 100-win teams lose 3 straight. Relax...We'll be fine. I'm not worried about the three straight losses. The first two were fluky, one-run, couldve-gone-either-way games. I'm worried because we still can't hit outside Wrigley, and I'm worried because Piniella's inability to properly manage a pitching staff is catching up with us and several of our pitchers are showing signs of damage from idiotic use. A couple one-run losses before the blowout don't worry me. But there are legit reasons to worry.

  16. Yeah his situation is EXACTLY the same as Wood and Prior. It's not the same other than that I, and many other intelligent fans, called it, only to be told to shut up and stop worrying by homers who love to defend anything this stupid organization does stupidly. It'd be nice if we could be the Cardinals and somehow magically never pay for the stupid things we do, but we're not. We're the Cubs, and we always pay.
  17. Now we've even got the same score as Game 6. Lovely. No Soriano, Zambrano possibly hurt, overuse catching up to Marmol. The 100-win talk should probably be over.
  18. It gets a little frustrating to see this stuff coming and know that you are right, but that it doesn't matter. "Hey guys, we should be worried about Wood and Prior's arms. Baker's an idiot for flogging their arms like this." "Shut up, it's a pennant race and we're winning! Baker is awesome".... "Hey guys, we should be worried about Marmol. Overuses like this could likely lead to a loss of effectiveness..."
  19. Ban this guy now, please what a waste of a post, yea we're pissed that he hit a grandslam, but you look like your 5 years old, jesus. Sheesh. I'm so tired of people telling other people what they can and can't post.
  20. Overuse He hasn't pitched since Sunday. You can't flog an arm mercilessly for three months and expect no negative consequences. A few days off doesn't change that. Oh, and ballgame. Season. Lifetime.
