  1. I LOVED that game. 8-) Anyway, on topic; Yeah, there's a good chance he probably did juice. It's pretty unfair to say that anyone from that era didnt unless there is undeniable proof. But at the same time, like has been stated before, there's still no evidence he ever did so to assume he did isn't really the best idea either. Regardless, though, Sammy is probably the sole reason I'm a Cubs fan today. I'll never forget the first cubs game I ever went to was Sept 18, 1999 - the day Sammy hit #60 for the second year straight. God, that was an amazing moment. That was the last Cubs game I've been to in person. Or second to last, I forget.
  2. No death videos. They are tasteless and it would end a lot of arguments before they start.
  3. You are ignoring the opportunity cost of keeping Hill. The remote chances of him being good are not worth the major-league roster spot he'd take up and the innings he'd need to be given to find out if he's going to be good.
  4. if by luck you mean two of the other good teams in that division being moved to another division then i agree. I think you are selling them way short. They were the second best team in the division last year by Pythwins.
  5. As mentioned earlier in the thread, a former teammate of Aaron is on record saying a lot of that team was using, as well as a lot of the rest of the league. This wasn't baseball's first steroid era, and Aaron fit the profile to a T right in the middle of the last one.
  6. I'm still praying for it to be Jeter oh my yes.
  7. I think Toronto would have made some more noise this season had they not had a pitching injury or two. I still think they might challenge for the WC with some luck.
  8. The clean minor leaguers who didn't get jobs. Or clean established Major Leaguers who didn't get a better contract because their numbers weren't as good as someone who had steroid inflated numbers. Exactly. They also stole from Roger Maris and Hank Aaron. They stole from the game of baseball itself. That one I can't agree with. Especially since we don't know for sure either of those guys were clean.
  9. The clean minor leaguers who didn't get jobs. like who? also....."clean minor leaguers"....LOL We'll never know. But if there were any clean players, then there were fringe major leaguers juicing who took jobs from them.
  10. The clean minor leaguers who didn't get jobs.
  11. Which steroids era? There's been more than one.
  12. Exactly. I don't know what Rodriguez did to deserve this, but the person in NY that did this must really not like the guy. I'd be willing to put a lot of money on whomever leaked this being a Yankee fan. I don't understand why many Yankee fans dislike A-Rod so much. He hasn't been very good for them in the postseason. He's been good for them in the postseason more often than he's been bad.
  13. Do it do it do it. Anytime you can trade multiple for one in the NBA, and the one you are getting is a legit star, you do it.
  14. All the BA, OBP and SLG appear to be rounded to the nearest .01 I see that, but it's still weird that every team in the Central besides the Cubs is projected to hit .260. Did they just pick a random number for the entire division or something? That just means they all project between .255 and .264. Doesn't seem that weird.
  15. That thing about Bannister and BABIP is intriguing. I couldn't find any record of someone following up on him with it.
  16. wasnt there, can't blame me. plus its the first time we've beaten kansas at home in like THREE GAMES. COME ON RAISIN. Rushing the court is fun. Why do some people hate when other people have fun?
  17. All the BA, OBP and SLG appear to be rounded to the nearest .01
  18. I definitely don't think it's impossible that Aaron did it. His career path fits the profile perfectly, he played during baseball's first Steroid Era, and one of his ex-teammates is out as saying a lot of that team was doing it.
  19. That's exactly what I thought. Schumaker at 2nd? That would be awesome to watch. He might not be too terrible of an option. He was a SS in college. If you're worth drafting for anything but 1b or C, you probably played SS in college.
  20. PECOTA still hates on Jeff Samardzija, though. 6.29 ERA and 1.73 WHIP.
  21. I would like to welcome our new Cubs fan overlords.
  22. Told you guys PECOTA was on the Brewers hard. I'm not saying they are great, but I was thinking they'd fall down to Pirates levels without Sheets/Sabathia.
  23. I definitely do not like all that body armor he wore either. I think the Bonds-armor thing is symptomatic of a problem in baseball today, which is that pitchers have been essentially castrated from pitching inside for fear of automatic ejection. It'd also be nice to see the umps call the rulebook strike zone. I know I harp on this alot, but I'm convinced the strike zone they call is closer than fans think. It's a function of the TV camera angles. When you are shooting down on the batter from the CF scoreboard, everything is going to appear lower than it is. So the pitch at the top of the strike zone looks waist-high, and the pitch at the bottom looks well below.
  24. I'm glad I don't have MLB Network. It'd just make me want to go find Kevin Orie, suckerslap him, and run away fast.
  25. The problem being that lefty-masher corner outfielders are literally a dime a dozen. With no power and no defense, there's nothing to differentiate him from every right-handed corner OFer in AAA.
