  1. Do the Cubs have another prospect named Horton? If not, the Cubs don't trade Cade Horton for Gore.
  2. Listening to Dunston break down was tough. FO23VER!
  3. Rojas with a productive day for Tennessee.
  4. Yep... It will cost a lot to get Gore, which is OK.
  5. lol... It was forwarded to me- sounds good.
  6. If the Cubs could get Gore and keep Cassie that would be excellent. https://x.com/JackHoffmaster6/status/1949539349952909804
  7. I think so... Cassie for Keller- no... Cassie + mid prospect for Keller and Bednar- yes.
  8. Very good question. I brought it up this week in Minor League Talk in the Minor League Musings thread. He's pitched a career high 98-innings after only pitching 34-innings last year. He'll need some type of break. Either be replaced in the rotaion by Assad/Taillon, or a new pitcher, or go through a biomechanic process. Wiggins also hit his carrer high in innings in July and the Cubs are using biomechanic trainning with him. A lot of options here.
  9. I wouldn't do that. I'd give Cassie & Wiggins as the key pieces, and I like both of them a lot.
  10. Yeah, let Hodge stack his success. He had a breakdown inning in Iowa last time and was still back with the Cubs soon after that. Then had a breakdown inning with the Cubs.
  11. Don't know if Counsell's managing has anything to do with it, but Cubs rookies sure have played well after the ASB the last two season with Counsell.
  12. Between the trade dealine and these three players getting healthy, the Cubs 25-man roster is going to look very different in early August. Assad starts for Iowa on 7/30. He could be back with the Cubs on 8/05. Taillon threw a 47-pitch bullpen session on 7/25. Could start in Iowa after Assad. Amaya playing for Iowa starting 7/29. Looks to be back with the Cubs in and around 8/04... Don't know if the Cubs would go with three catchers, but I don't want to see McGuire go.
  13. To start no to Wiggins and Rojas. Probably a couple more, too.
  14. Kipp started for Tennessee- interesting if Wiggins was pulled because of trade discussion?!?
  15. Horton has graduated as a prospect, but still in his rookie season. I think this is the best spot for this discussion. He's at 91-innings for the year, a career high. He pitched 34-innings last year and 88-innings in 2023. He needs to do a Wiggins esque shutdown here pretty soon. What are we looking at? Shutdown for most of August and ramp back up in early September? It's important he ends the year healthy and stretched out a bit for a full bore 2026.
  16. The Birdsell/Wiggins AAA/AA combo. Doesn't get much better than that. Could also be their last games as Cubs- 🤕
  17. Yeah, Assad's stuff is tough on 18 and 19 year olds.
  18. I was wondering why they didn't include the draft picks, especially after Callis said he'd have Conrad 2nd or 3rd. Update: They called it “market corrections” in advance of the Trade Deadline. "It’s not a full-on rerank -- that will come in August with the 2025 Draft class folded in -- it’s a freshening-up of all of the lists. We’ve reranked every team's top 10 and then made room for any players who deserved to jump up or move down 10 or more spaces on their respective team rankings."
  19. Owen Caissie Jaxon Wiggins Jefferson Rojas Moises Ballesteros Ethan Conrad Kevin Alcantara James Triantos Jonathon Long Cristian Hernandez Brandon Birdsell Ronny Cruz Pedro Ramirez Ryan Gallagher Christian Franklin Cole Mathis Fernando Cruz Will Sanders Nazier Mule Juan Tomas Eli Lovich I predict 6 of my top-20 will be traded by August 1st.
  20. Assad sure would be handy today... But I get your point. The Cubs want a starter for the playoffs
  21. Assad makes a rehab start on Thursday. If all goes well he'll be back in early August.
  22. Godspeed, Ryno!
  23. I just looked at what Boston paid for Crochet to kinda get an idea what it wold cost the Cubs to get Ryan. The farm system would look a lot different after the trade, but I wouldn't object.
  24. I think this guy is intriguing; interesting story. He kinda sticks out to me from the other college SRs. Six years in college. Didn't play baseball his first year (didn't make the team), so his eligibility clock starts his 2nd year, when he played in CC for two years. 4th yr at NC, 5th yr TJS and 6th yr he's the ACC pitcher of the year hitting 97 mph. He's also the size of DE.
