  1. Nice! I'm thinking he slides into Horton's spot next Tuesday. No one wants to lose Horton, but he just needs to stop pitching for a bit. He's at 108.1-innings for the year, which is 20-innings higher than his previous career high and 74-innings more than last year.
  2. I saw the Wiggins discussion in the 8/5 game thread. Hope he's healthy. He needs to start pitching again to build up innings Y/Y.
  3. Any Idea in Assad's fastball today? If he was hitting 94 mph he's ready for Chicago.
  4. #ucking disgusting.
  5. We're not talking about prospects working they're way through the ststem. These guys are AAA veterans. The core group of Cassie, Ballesteros, Alcantara, Triantos and Birdsell have already been in AAA for two years. They are essentially blocked- Ballesteros needs more time for defense. Next year would be Long's 2nd season in AAA and appears ready the majors, too.
  6. Replace them as in taking their roster spots. It's an option and would probably be 3-4 to start he season.
  7. It was OK yesterday in the 9th, but it's hurt the Cubs the last two games. Nice seeing Happ crushing the ball.
  8. Happ, Suzuki and Hoerner are FAs after 2026. Need replacements for them, hopefully Suzuki is resigned. Also looking at a lockout in 2027. I think that's a big part of Hoyer's (Ricketts) planning. The top prospects are ready for MLB. Some of them will be traded, some will be depth- thinking the cubs will have a lot of young depth next year. Probably an 80% chance Tucker is gone. That puts Cassie in RF with Alcantara/Long as RH backup. Long is the logical replacement for Turner, so maybe both Long and Alcantara can make the team. that's a lot of young depth. Triantos is a good replacement for Berti, or he could be traded. Some nice young pitching should be ready next year, too. Birdsell will be looking for MLB playing time in spring training. We need to see how Wiggins finishes this year. He could be looking at a Horton trajectory- get 6-8 quality starts in Iowa then up with the Cubs. Lots of options. It'll be interesting to see who's signed, traded and promoted.
  9. Romero starting for Tennessee.
  10. Gallagher still listed as the starter- I want Wiggins.
  11. TBD in Tennessee- hopefully we get Wiggins some time this weekend.
  12. I saw some 93/94 mph 4-seamers. What's his normal speed, 94-97 mph?
  13. Nice... That'll work at Wrigley Field.
  14. Birdsell done after 6. He's back.
  15. Next three are't too hard: Ballesteros goes back to Iowa. Kriskee and Hollowell go on vacation. It'll get tougher when Assad, Taillon and Amaya come back in the very near future.
  16. Birdsell off to a good start... Amaya with a hit, too.
  17. I agree... The ACR routine would be a reset for him.
  18. With Pressly DFAed, maybe don't trade for washed up Astro relievers anymore?!?
  19. The top 3 can be Shota, Boyd and Horton- what he's done his last two starts, really three of his last four, he's shown to have a playoff pedigree. We all know he has to take a break. If he follows Wiggins' ACR path, he'll pitch August 1st and could be back as soon as August 31st or September 6th to finish out the year as a starter.
  20. Well, the system is a lot stronger than I thought it would at this time. Gallagher is the only top 10ish guy gone. De La Cruz was a big international signee ($2.3M), but a long ways away. Brethowr is a fun prospect, but Cubs are stacked with OF prospects. I wish the Cubs got a TOR pitchers, but also like keeping all the top prospects.
  21. 2026 RF: Cassie/Alcantara platoon. I kinda like it.
  22. Yeah... Six weeks ago I barely knew who Gallagher was. Will miss him a little bit now, though... Good trade; filled a big need.
