    Iowa with a shutout. A bullpen game from AAA vets: Doubt any of them become more than a 13th MBL pitcher on a AAA shuttle- maybe Pearson figure it out.

    I don't think so. I believe Shaw was still #1, he didn't graduate from the system yet, when Horton was called up. But, they were the top prospect playing in the minors when they were each called up.

    7 relievers pitched today- kinda like a bullpen day. Rogers and Pomeranz are the only ones who pitched yesterday and today, so the bullpen is OK for tomorrow. Still would be nice if Rea and Brown could take care of it.

    Taillon threw 85 pitches in his last rehab start. He's fine.

    He pitched 4 innings a week ago. 2.2 on Sunday.

    Through the 2nd inning and we're over 100 pitches (103). Who's first up for long relief for the Cubs- Brown, Wicks?!?

    Cosgrove optioned, Taillon actived to start and Wicks up as the 27th man. So, lots of fresh pitching. Don't know how good it'll be, but lots of arms available for the 2nd game.

    He's gone 5 innings in his last two starts and had his best game the start before the last one. Not much, but it's something to build off of. I'm guessing the coaches must have seen some progress outside of stats.

    With his history innings are an issue. Yeah, the process is more nuanced now than a flat old school shutdown. I also had the same thought on his schedule. August 18th, September 1st then take it start by start.
