  1. 3rd straight good (very good) game for Schlaffer. I'm sure it's his best game at A+. It's time for him to go to Tennessee. I know he's old for the league( just turned 24), but he looks like he's trying to become a prospect again after missing all of 2023. We'll see what he does at the higher levels.
  2. That sounds right. I don't think he's even pitched on 5 days rest this season and to go on 4 days was test- he passed.
  3. Shaw hit a HR before he was sent down. Was it a pintch hit or did he play 2B that game?
  4. Two consecutive good starts... Wondering if he can become interesting?!?
  5. Good call. It was like Callis read your post.
  6. Nice... I was guessing 20th, but Callis him ahead of the two international signees.
  7. Nice. Good to know he'll be on the top 30 list tomorrow with Shaw graduating. Horton has to be pretty close to graduating too. It'll be good to see Gallagher's "Bio" when he's on the list. Usually very good info. From the very little I can tell is his 4 seamer is around 91-95mph. It seems everything he throws has very good movement, which isn't uncommon for good pitching prospects. What is uncommon is his very good control of that movement. That's a skillset that plays very well in the big leagues. Again, I'm looking forward to see Callis' "Bio" on him.
  8. Horton is going to be on some type of inning limitation (100 to 125 inngs I'm guessing). Do we know what the game plan is for this situation? Just pitch him until he hits his limit and that's it for the year or do they try to save him for postseason work?!?
  9. It was kinda the whole month of May he was OK and he had a good game to start June. He was awful in April.
  10. Good Idea. It's good to have one thread for the bullpen shuffle. I think past threads were called the Iowa shuttle. It was time for the Merriweather move. He's been bad the last two seasons. I was thinking Little would get the next call up. I guess they want him to stack some successs in Iowa.
  11. Interesting. Is there an updated scouting report on him? From what I remember from the darft (24/9th round) he pitches 90-95mph with an occasional top out of 97 mph. With his size he has projectability.
  12. Yes- he decided to start hitting HRs- 😎 Good question. To answer it seems like his front leg kick is reduced. That was something most people thought would need to happen for his success to translate to the majors.
  13. Not signing Tanner Scott kinda broke me on the Cubs this year. Now I remember why.

  15. Damn... Heck of a prospect. Gotta give somethin' to get somethin'.
  16. Makes sense, thanks. I've been going off MLBs top 30 on Cubs.com. This was the tools report:
  17. I don't know about other sports. i know he graduated early to go to UNC, then they Cubs drafted him in 2nd round and offered a big bonus to sign. He was tried at 3B, it was bad. He's been at 2B the last two years and figured it out I guess?!? I remember him hurting his knee early in 2023, maybe in the spring even. He dealt with that the whole year. I guess he was just healthy last year and got comfortable at 2B. He was able to show off his speed and big improvement at 2B.
  18. What has me confused on Triantos is his original scouting report from when he was drafted. He was a no tools (50 power & 45 run), a no defence (45) HS hitter taken in the 2nd round. I didn’t like it at all. Three years later he’s a fast, high end fielder. How did he turn into a fast, high end fielding prospect that made it to AAA at 21? Was the scouting report junk, or did he develop skills?
  19. Was it posted mid season? If it's new info, then no. Amaya hits like an extreme LHH, so Thais being LLH is irrelevant.
  20. When you break down his season, his BB/9 was better with the Cubs. As others pointed out last year was a rehab year for him. His first four starts were at the rookie complex, he was going through stuff. His IP/BB ratio was 7/12. When the Cubs felt he was ready for MB (A ball), he was excellent the entire time. His IP/BB ratio was 21/5. The Cubs moved him up to MB (A+) where he had eight starts. He struggled early, first two starts were tough. From reports he was overthrowing. He was up and down the next four starts and finished with two excellent games. The exact type of progress we're looking for. All 'n all, this was a successful 60-inning first year in the minors for where he was coming from. He's there with Horton as a clear top two for best stuff in the system. That's why he's #9.
  21. A lot of posters have commented on this already. Good discussion, I’ll add to it. I see what you’re saying, but I think you’re hyper focused on one lifetime stat. You’re ignoring the big picture. He was drafted based on raw top end talent and potential over production. Having some ugly stats his first season is completely understandable. His prospect status is much more nuanced than his lifetime WHIP since HS. His college WHIP is pretty much irrelevant now. All of his stats, including WHIP, were much better his first year in the minors then his two years in college. His improvement throughout the season was substantial. He had 5-6 starts in A-ball and was very good. When promoted to A+, he struggled. He got better and his last two starts were dominant: 10IP, 4H, 5BB, 17K, 1ER, .9 ERA, .9 WHIP This is the guy who’s the #9 prospect.
  22. That would be an amzing defensive improvement. Triantos breaks his scouting report more than anyone else. Per his previous reports, he was a slow fringy 2B. Now he's stealing 47 bases and is the top defensive prospect in the system. Frankly, I don't know what to make of him?!?
  23. TY! Even better than I thought. The Cubs really need to sign one of them.
  24. Ok, I'm doing none of this. I simply asked how did the Nat's do after losing their $330M player. Instead of answering the question you've gone into convulsions trying to spin out of it. Againg, for the 3rd time, I'd take the Cubs 1B/SS combo in 2025 over what the Nats had in 2019. ... Ya know, I'm gonna stop. Yur just gonna keep spinnin' stuff up... Good day.
