  1. Wicks was suppose to go for Iowa now it's Howser. The Cubs starter is listed as TBD. I'm doing the math and thinking Wicks could be in Chicago?!? Is a starter injured?
  2. Birdsell's August: 3-1, 29.2IP, 25H, 6BB, 35K. 1.82 ERA
  3. Killian breezed through the 5th. Came out for the 6th for the first time this year. Got the first guy out, then loaded the bases before getting pulled. Two of them scored. Still a good game.
  4. Killian rolling again tonight: 4IP, 2H, 0BB, 3K. 5th August start with an ERA in and around 1.30. At this point he's gotta be the September call up, right?
  5. Still a few innings away, but if this holds, I want Hodge in the 9th. No need for Lopez to finish. What an easy spot to give Hodge more 9th inning experience.
  6. Lopez and Hodge havn't pitched recently and they're off on Thursday. I want to see them tonight.
  7. Can Smyly pitch or is he in limbo? Thinking the pen will pitch the last four innings. Steele with 93 pitches.
  8. Yes... Hopefully that's still in play.
  9. Damn... Well, he reestablished himself. He'll be interesting to follow next year at Tennessee. He'll need to play like he the last two months. He can't hit .160 with a 40% K rate like he has after promotions.
  10. If Shaw can hit like Happ, he'll be an excellent asset at 2B. Obviously not as good as prime Bryant, but considerbly better than just solid. My hope is he'll actually be better than Happ, which I think is fair for the Cubs #1 prospect. Happ is playing right at his career averages- .797 OPS & 121 OPS+ (he's 114 OPS+ this year)... I can realistically envion Shaw having an 800+ OPS.
  11. Yeah, I like the other ten better. He would be 11th... Really, 5-11 are all pretty close. All depends on what ya like better (ceiling, highest floor, MLB readiness, etc...)
  12. My top 10 as it now stands: 1. Horton 2. Shaw 3. Cassie 4. Smith 5. Ballesteros 6. Triantos 7. Birdsell 8. Cruz 9. Wiggins 10 Hernanadez Horton's ceiling still has me all in. Although, he needs to stay healthy next year. Gotta respect what Smith is showing. He could be higher than #4 by the end of the year. Birdsell's stuff and success at AAA can't be undervalued. Basically going by signing bonus for Cruz. $4M says a lot. I think Hernandez has been judged a little too harshly for a 20yr old. OPSing at .860 in A+ works for me.
  13. From what I understand they're looking at Sep 1st or 6th for him. The thought is the Cubs would finsh the year with a 6-man roation beginning the 1st or 6th. I was told he hit 94mph, but not confirmed.
  14. lol- great meme... I opened the image in a new tab and increased the size.
  15. Wicks in his last two games: 8.2IP/4H/1B/8K Obviously he's ready for Chicago. I wonder if they just wait until Sep 1st to activate him.
  16. PCA OPSing in and around .900 for August.
  17. Shaw is 2/4, HR, 2BB... OPS .840 Another guy I'd like to see get called up in September. I miss the days of the unlimited 40-man September call ups.
  18. I remember Gallardo being a "skinny" prospect when he was signed. He's not that now.
  19. Birdsell really looking like a top prospect. If he finishes the season like he’s pitched recently, I’d have him as a top 10 guy. It’s a little crazy, but if finishes strong, I’d like to see him get a couple starts in Chicago. It’s not gonna happen. I’m sure the Cubs don’t want to roster him yet and his inning total is getting up there. I think he was around 110 innings last year and he just went over that today. So, yeah, he won't be pitching in Chicago at the end of September. It just would be awesome if he did.
  20. Good job… A lot of stuff will happen between now and next April. It’s already started with Gallardo’s surgery. All we can do is project with what we know now. I’m guessing Brown starts in Iowa with Wick starting in Chicago. Iowa, as it looks now, should have a heck of a team with a lot of prospects. I agree with Wiggins and Gray starting at South Bend. If they improve their control, they should quickly move up to Tennessee.
  21. Iowa postponed again. Lookin' at a couple doubleheaders to end the week. Could have Kilian and Wicks tomorrow.
  22. That's fair. He's spent four years in A ball and has only looked good the last seven weeks. Maybe another month or so in 2022, his second season at MB. I remember him going on a HR tear. Physically, he’s an ideal catching prospect. Good size, athletic, power potential and left handed. He just has to continue to produce. As of July 1st, his OPS was .570 in his second season in A+- not good. I was actually thinking he could get released. He’s been on a heater ever since. His OPS is up to .730 and in August it’s 1.339. Myself, he’s spent 3 ¾ seasons in A ball. I’d like to see him promoted to AA for the last month of the season. If he can just look like he’s not hitting blindfolded for that month in Tennessee, then I’m back on his bandwagon.
