  1. Any updates on Horton? Last I saw he started throwing about three weeks ago.
  2. The new board looks great, just came across it. The minor league talk looks as good as everl, and it appears there's actually quality Cub talk back on the general board- nice! For the season, I'm really enjoying this team. The funnest its been since 2017. For the minor leagues. Also really fun. Such a deep group. Excellent prospects throughout the system. Can't be more jacked about the last two 1st rounders. Horton has to be the best pitching prospect since Prior, and Shaw is just blowing through the system. When I was a kid I remember Lance Dickson getting to the Show the year he was drafted, and it all endeed in his 3rd or 4th start when a come backer took out one of his knees- ugh. I don't think he pitched in the majors again.
  3. Another season in the books. Great job as always, Raisin! I think it was a very good season for the system. A lot of prospects across the board. I don't remember the system ever having this many legitimate pitching prospects. I don't see the Wood/Prior ace types, but a whole bunch guys that project as plus MLB pitchers.
  4. How cool is it that Young is getting his Crash Davis cup of coffee in the show! I haven't thought of him as prospect since before covid. If I remember right he was OK through A ball and flatlined in AA. Anyway, good for him. The downside is he's taking what should be Mervises spot. We all know the situation, but it still stinks he doesn't get those 75 at bats in the majors this season.
  5. Herz got through four innings, so not too terrible... His control issues have definitely been exposed in AA. We'll see how he responds next year. Kilian with a couple hits and walks in three innings before the postponement. Kinda what he's been since his 2nd start with the Cubs. Like with Herz, we'll see if he can figure it out this offseason.
  6. For those that don't know Estrada's back story, which included me, here's a nice article explaining it in detail: https://www.milb.com/news/the-minor-setback-how-jeremiah-estrada-has-battled-injuries-to-lead-pelicans-bul He's doing OK in AAA. No runs in two innings, but he's given up 4Hs. Definitely want to see him in Chicago this year.
  7. https://www.milb.com/scores/cubs Looks like Jensen was the star of the organization on Sat. 2nd good start in a row with this one better than his previous effort: 10IP, 2ER, 4H, 3BB and 10Ks. That's a snappy .70 WHIP. 99% chance he's rostered.
  8. I can tell a lot of posters here didn't watch him against CWS champions Ole Miss in the CWS. FYI, he looked like Kerry Wood in his 20 strikeout game. Just sayin'.
  9. I don't have any scouting/first hand accounts, but he's been very good. Between Hughes and Hudson(who both have been hard on both RHH and LHH), plus some lesser likelihood options that could break through(Little, Newcomb, Wieck), I'm hopeful they won't need to bring in next year's version of Norris to ensure there's enough LHP representation in the pen Thanks for the info. Of course he's struggled since I mentioned him with three poor performances in July. Anyway, he's still doing OK over all. It would be nice if he made to Chicago this year. There's already been a lot of shuffling with the Pitchers on the 40-man roster and I imagine that'll continue, so there will be opportunities.
  10. Yep... Hoping to see him respond in the 4th after scuffling in the 3rd. No bigee.
  11. Interesting AA rotation with Herz, Wicks and Jensen. With Franklin getting his act together he's probably two more good starts from joining them in Tennessee. And, if ( ) Marquez could miraculously return in a month or so, we could see a September AA rotation of: Herz Wicks Jensen Franklin Marquez How awesome would this be! I can't say I've seen a Cubs prospect rotation like in AAA or AA.
  12. Nah, he just got a little welcome to AA in the 3rd inning. Lets see how he handles the 4th inning?!?
  13. Who had Morel as a top 10 prospect and having a breakout major league season this year? :D It shows ya just never know?!? It also shows it's good to have a lot of tools.
  14. Nice to see Kilian with a bounce back performance. Him ending the season pitching well with the Cubs in September would be a big victory for the 2022 Cubs.
  15. Any Bryan Hudson updates? I remember the thought was it would take some time for him to develop when he was drafted. Because of his size and form it was going to be a process for him to develop repeatable pitching mechanics. Well, here we are 7 or 8 years later and his mechanics are doing well in AAA. Excellent Ks, HPI and WHIP numbers. Is he doing this with stuff that'll work in the majors or has he just become an effective minor league pro in his 8th season in the minors?
  16. Great post... I exported it to musings so it wouldn't get lost in game day thread. The pitching lab has been as good and productive as one could hope.
  17. Yeah, he certainly looked fit... The video also shows Roedner looking like he's lost his teenage scrawniness, too. He looked a little jacked. For the other guy in the video, some coach or something, we kinda get a picture of what Schwarber would have looked like if he gained 25 lbs rather than losing it a couple years ago... 8-)
  18. Yeah, he doesn't have that teenager scrawniness to him now. We'll see if it pays off.
  19. If he can get back to his 2017 numbers he'd be useful.
  20. Miller definitely isn't throwing as hard as he did in April. He needs to be 92-95 to get it done in AAA and above. We'll see how he adjusts next year. He's still interesting to me. Liking the starters next year. Marquez, of course, is the top guy. Myrtle Beach could have an interesting guy every night. Franklin will probably be my 2nd favorite to keep up with.
  21. He's a lot smaller, isn't he? I remember thinking he looks like he's 15.
  22. Hopefully that's his last game in Iowa before the call-ups. Checked out Almora. He is broken... The Cubs need to reinvent him this winter.
  23. Amaya and Hoerner. Yeah!
  24. Lot of interesting things yesterday. Both Chicago and Iowa won 1-0, Iowa threw a 1-hitter. Speaking of Iowa's pitching ( :D ), I have a teaser alert. Maples and Norwood are on good rolls. For both of them it's about controlling their ++ stuff, and they've been doing that as of late. Maybe they've figured something out?!? Norwood's last five games: 6.2IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 11K. Maples' last seven games: 11IP, 4H, 1R, 2BB, 15K. Both of the have had a lot of 1+ inning outings. Maples has actually had a lot of 2-inning outings. We'll see how they finish out over the next ten days. As we've seen all season, soon as we get a little hopeful about a pitcher in Iowa, they get obliterated. Yet, if they can continue this roll to the end, they could be very helpful for Chicago in September.
  25. Rumor has it he gave up a run last night. Shees, I knew has was a flash in the pan. Da Cubs ain't got no pitching prospects.
