  1. It didn't get any better, 4IP & 8ER. Awful start, but I don't understand the "again" reference?!? He hasn't had a game like this the entire year; I don't know if he had a game like this last year, either.
  2. Lange pitched again today: 7.1IP, 2H, 1R, 4BB, 8K. He was mostly 91-92mph, topped out at 94mph... Must be a 2-seamer, there was a lot of movement. It was an impressive performance, especially considering the opponent, OSU... OSU is the #1 seed and considered the best team in the country. On Monday, OSU scored 13 runs against LSU.
  3. Go Bailey... I want to see a 100mph fastball today.
  4. That's a 0.73 ERA... =D> He's suppose to be mentally tough, so getting roughed up in AA shouldn't be an issue for him... Send him to Tennessee!
  5. Buy him a ticket to Tennessee.
  6. Not directly minor league related, but it shows how good the system has been: Cubs 8 starting position players in order tonight: 27, 25, 25, 23, 22, 23, 24, 24. Wow...
  7. Hatches last 5 starts: 30.1 IP, .90 ERA, 28H, 33 K, 7 BB... Yep...
  8. Zagunis has a special skill (OBP), too. That helps his chances.
  9. Yeah, he had a rough 1st inning and battled the rest of the game; he hit 94mph in 2nd inning. You're right, there's a lot of stuff there to work with, especially that curve ball... I wonder if he'll pitch for the Cub this year, he's had a lot of innings already.
  10. LSU vs FSU, CWS 7:00 p.m. Probable Starter: LSU: RHP Alex Lang (Cubs 1st round pick)
  11. Did you decide not to include Little and Lang, or are they not in your total top 10? I noticed I left off Candelario, but that's OK- I'm thinking he's a 4A player. You're right about this being a fluid situation... By the end of the year the only thing I'm certain about is Jimenez will still be #1.
  12. Mekkes 2nd- really? I'm higher on the system than you. The pitching is better than it has been in forever and it still has an elite position prospect even after graduating so many top level position players and trading one for a WS championship. My Top Dozen: 1. Jimenez 2. Cease 3. Little 4. Lange 5. Hatch 6. Caratini 7. Clifton 8. Cruz 9. Amaya 10. Alzoy 11. Mekkes 12. Zagunis
  13. 1-6 GO-FO- dang, that is such a buzz kill to his prospecthood. What can he do to improve on that?
  14. Can't be too obvious, you weren't even close. What he's doing with his "dong" is none of my business. It's obvious a lot people want to sit behind their keyboards and make judgments without knowing the facts... What a shame, I wont be part of it.
  15. Link: Background on the accusations
  16. Really? How is that "rightfully so"?
  17.
  18. It doesn't concern me that he "couldn't", but I am glad they didn't try and make him to it. Yeah, that's where I'm at... Huge difference between "couldn't" and "didn't". For all the reasons the other posters already stated, it was a smart move not to pitch him... Of course that's easy to say because it worked. With 2 outs in the top of the 9th against the Yankees, I was feeling really good about Strop going two innings for the save when Davis wasn't available to pitch- yeah...
  19. Yep, that's good stuff. I still think Cease is the #1 PP, but Hatch is right there.
  20. He worked it out. It appears he has some mental toughness to him. According to his scouting report at Cubs.com, he has a lot of stuff going for. When it comes to all the peripheral stuff (besides injury history), he rates a + on all of it. It looks like his stuff is very good. They rated his fastball a 60, hitting 96mph, while generating a lot of ground balls. So far this year, that all checks out. When he had the 13K game, the report was his fastball was 94-97mph. Oddly, he had some bad luck on hit balls that night. Eight balls were in play and six of them went for hits.
  21. The last three starts for Hatch: 16.2IP, 14H, 2ER, 4BB, 22K. OK, I'm understanding some of the hype now.
  22. From what I understand, after a messy breakup, Maddon and the Rays are good. Tampa is still Maddon's full time home and he's a big part of the community. Also, and most importantly to the Rays, he's a shill for the Rays to move to Tampa- the Rays love that. Like others have said, the Rays are just a little greedy when it comes to trading their quality pitching.
  23. Hopefully neither one... Hopefully the Cubs can wait until the off season to trade players for pitchers, then a lot of guys would be available.
  24. Gotta think you could get something done with the Rays. Besides their already good staff on the MLB roster, this is their staff at AAA: Blake Snell Brent Honeywell Jose Deleon Jacob Faria Taylor Guerrieri They gotta trade some pitching, they just gotta.
  25. Good point, lack of K's haven't been issue for Clifton or Cruz; Cruz has a power arm and Clifton is close to having one... To highlight that point, Clifton actually had 19K (7, 7, 5) in 17.2 IP his previous three starts. For their careers, they're both around a K an inning and are better than that when they've figured out a league. Cruz was dominating in South Bend last year (something like 11k/9IP) and Clifton was almost as dominating his last eight starts or so in Myrtle Beach.
