    Maybe they plan on resigning him, and then promoting it as a big offseason move. Get fans to start think of Ramirez as gone, then, when he signs, it's like signing a free agent. Remove the tin foil hat. The black helocopters aren't coming for you...yet. So it's a conspiracy theory to think the Cubs might botch the offseason and promote resigning their own guys as big moves? i think its obvious they will spin this as a huge offseason move, they've got to keep from losing more fans to the south side. thats fine with me, as long as they actually make some other huge moves.

    my wife was supposed to have our first baby on friday by induction. i was really hoping the tigers would help me out and prevent these two events from happening on the same day. we know they didnt but thankfully, mom held out for a few more hours and our son wasn't born on black friday. i'm becoming undecided on how to raise him baseball wise. it would be nice to have someone to commiserate with, as i am the one blue speck in a family that is all red, but maybe i should just let grow up happy.

    anybody surprised by the rule v changes? it seemed like it was a good system before, i dont know why it needed fixing. this will give another year to evaluate which talent is 40-man worthy, may make being a gm a little easier.

    my family contributed to some tv rating service for a short while when i was in high school (early 90's) we had a diary but no devices of any kind. i remember not being real accurate-when flipping channels i would just put my favorite or what i might have spent the most time on. not a very accurate system.

    i dont understand why jones even cares enough to make a stink in the offseason. he gets a little more rest, stats like BA and OPS will go up, HRs and RBIs will only go down slightly, he's probably only going to lose 80 AB's with PH situations considered. and most importantly hes getting paid the same. its great he wants to play everyday but how about improving his team's chance to be a winner?

    Kranitz might not even be a given since he's entertaining an offer from Fredi Gonzalez and the Marlins. Kranitz would be absolutely the best part of having Girardi come to the Cubs. Another reason to speed up the selection process, jim

    i asked this earlier and dont remember any responses. how about dunn in RF? he's got a cannon. also plate discipline isnt a quality that deteriorates quickly with age iirc. i'd be willing to trade pie and a whole bullpen to get him, i just dont want to lose murton. and if we can get rid of jones, even better. edit: as for priors injury concerns, i agree with the sentiment from some other posters- that he didnt think this wasted season was worth getting Dustied through. i dont remember ever hearing a hard diagnosis on his shoulder. i expect a great '07 from prior, let it be on the northside.

    Man, I can't stand re-makes! Cubs Suck Part XCIX. cant you just say IC? dont know my roman numerals. but its safe to say being a cub fan will be really tough in 2008.
