  1. what was the reason pie wasnt called up in september? more ABs for pierre?
  2. I agree. I saw your post after reading the end of this article. http://www.nbc5.com/sports/10774432/detail.html while i agree with that article somewhat, its now as cut and dry as they make it seem. the bears have now played on this field which has been really bad 2 times, new orleans hasnt at all. that is a advantage to the bears in my opinon. the field being what it is will most likely limit Reggie Bush and his ability to cut back and forth. Cold and wind are small factors but if it snows, that will be a big factor. im not saying the Saints cant come in here in bad conditions and beat the bears, im saying that the bears have experience in bad weather conditions on a bad field, New Orleans dosent, the saints have only played 11 games in domes this year (8 at home, 2 against Atlanta, 1 against Dallas, semi dome) The teams they beat not in domes were, Browns, Packers (first 2 games of the season), Tampa Bay and the Giants the article says this "I’d be willing to bet that if you went back and looked the Bears record in so called “Bear Weather” games wouldn’t be all that impressive." um, you're the reporter writing the article, look it up and give us real answers.
  3. When the crap have I had the opportunity to brag about the Saints. Mostly I keep my mouth shut about them because they are so bad it's embarrassing. I bet if you go dig up the NFL Draft thread from last year you'll see me jumping up and down about Bush. My grandfather had season tickets with them every year until he died. I've probably been to 30 or 40 Saints games in my life. Hell, I still have an Archie Manning jersey that my father got back in the 70's. Saints AND Cubs? you've made some awful choices, my friend.
  4. heckuva game though. mizzou just gave it away at the end. nice FT shooting.
  5. the counter argument is that anabolic steroids taken illegally need not be expressly defined as illegal by MLB. however, amphetamines are/were also illegal, and have been around along time too. undoubetdly significant numbers of HOFers from the 70s and 80s were taking those.
  6. i thought he got something like 4.5 Mil per month for 4 months last year.
  7. \ Quite simple actually. Why pitch a full season for 17M when someone will pay you the same to pitch 1/2 a season? Call him that mid-season pickup and run for the play-offs. you are stating the obvious. i keep hearing specifically the 22nd mentioned for clemens and i'm wondering how that is any different than june 23rd or august 17th or september 2nd or april 11th or may 30th and so on. the only deadline i'm aware of is, IIRC, that you cant resign with the same club if arb is declined until sometime in may. it may just be something as simple as when summer vacation starts for his kids or someting, i dont know.
  8. wow what a finish. if you catch the replay again, look at the half-hearted attempt at a block by the would-be kicker on the guy that ends up catching romo from behind. romo probably makes the one yard line if the kicker gets a bigger piece of him. imagine the sickening love fest if romo had turned that broken play into a first down.
  9. seconded, then lose to the bears of course
  10. go chiefs!! i think if KC can avoid getting behind early they will be in great shape.
  11. despite duke getting some late calls, VT beats them at cameron. now hopefully we get to watch OSU destroy UI.
  12. whats with clemens and June 22nd? is he injured or superstitious?
  13. The Yankees would probably be interested in Blaylock from Texas and they are in need of pitching- Cubs get: Arod+Pavano Rangers get:Marshall+Mateo+Gallagher? Yankees get Blaylock+Eyre as a cub fan i would be all over that. i dont see the other teams agreeing to this though.
  14. Until I see what happens in ST, I can't answer that. He's not rehabbing from surgery, so right now I don't see why he couldn't be there. I'm not a doctor and I haven't seen his medical reports, so I don't know. Considering there is still four months to Opening Day, I don't know why he shouldn't be ready to go. You'd think that, and still I doubt he'll pitch before May. why may, the warmer weather? it sounds like nobody really knows, but if he cant pitch in april i dont see how august is likely either.
  15. some ward in rf, too. come on tree, do you want us all to leave?
  16. what are the chances we get to see tipoff of baggin rights with the duke game before it? i'm guessing not good.
  17. When I posted I was drunker than Jim Bowden channeling William Faulkner. I swear by Phoebe Cates that it won't happen again. at 11:12 AM? i guess its 5 o'clock somewhere
  18. Pitt always plays a terrible schedule and is overrated. Maybe sometime this century the Big 10 will win a National Championship? Do you think? I think someone will this January. They should also be playing another Big Ten team for the title. I beleive we had a basketball team that would have won if not for standing within two feet of Sean May being a foul. Just because Illinois couldn't stop Sean May to save its life in that game doesn't mean you have to throw out untrue statements like that. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for Illinois that year but there was no favorite playing by the refs in that game. I would agree with that-I was also rooting bigtime for Illinois, but I thought that game was called very fairly. I though NC definitely had the benefit of the calls, but nowhere near to the extent they did two games before. oh if only one Alando Tucker was healthy that year. The free throw disparity would also agree with my argument. UNC also got the benefit of the doubt on a huge call in the last minute against Villanova. They got a lot of "breaks" that year in the tourny. Come on. You're an Illinois fan. You should know what type of team you had back then. Illinois was a 3 point shooting team. They didn't drive into the basket. They shot jumpers. You don't get fouled too often shooting jumpers. 40 of their 70 shots in the title game were from beyond the arc. Illinois shot 6 free throws in the National Title game. They also only shot 8 against Louisville in the National semifinals. Does that mean the refs favored Louisville? Didn't think so. Sean May was an established post presence and the fact is that Illinois couldn't stop him. When you're completely overmatched like that, you're are going to commit fouls. It happens. James Augustine played 4 minutes 4 minutes. Felton got in foul trouble early and then played the entire final what, 27 minutes without picking up another foul. I know we shot a lot of threes, but we also got called for fouls for standing next to Sean May. i get angry every time i think of that game. one of his fouls, either the 4th or 5th, seemed like it was almost intentional. for a second i thought he was throwing the game, but the replay didnt look as bad, he was just understandably frustrated with horrible officiating.
  19. i think this a relevant factor that has been overlooked by many. a couple of early runs couldve gone a long way for rich, especially the first few games.
  20. I was like "wow, Neifi and Mabry both had a warp of 1? Then i saw that it was POINT 1. Ahhhhhhh f them. yeah shouldnt they be negative numbers? or is that a different stat. Maybe i should just stick to BA and W-L.
  21. Three or four wins? Yeah thats just not true. i just dont get it. if getting rid of worthless players doesnt really help then why bother? its like saying the game is 98% luck.
  22. GH might be the biggest waste of time i've ever seen. and i love video games.
  23. Wheaton is NAIA, no? From the looks of their website, they're DIII. On another note, the Braggin' Rights game is Tuesday. I can't wait. Maybe we can win for the first time in a thousand years. Maybe you can't!! Ohhhhhhhhh Go away ;) If its the Wheaton of the CCIW, then they're DIII. Conference has Augustana, Millikin, IL Wesleyan (Go Titans), North Park? and others. IWU played UI either last year or the year before and kept it respectable at halftime.
  24. maybe somebody read a book or a website or a newspaper over there. its encouraging.
