  1. Nonsense. This photo of Walter Johnson's pitching grips was taken literally 100 YEARS ago. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/walterpitch.jpg That's a 4 seamer, slider, sinker, changeup, knuckleball, and curve. Then you have to consider the fact that breaking pitches in 2009 travel faster than fastballs did in 1909. I also never said that breaking pitches hadn't been invented yet. I really don't think you have a clue of what you are talking about.

  3. When people say "pure hitter" they are talking guys like Ichiro, Gwynn, Rose. It's a stupid Morganesque term. I could probably close my eyes and imagine Tim McCarver talking about it too.
  4. Oh come on. You say it as if I didn't know that. I'm just saying, there's a reason why the Yanks didn't hang onto him. Here's the reason the Yankees didn't hang on to him.... http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2009/0207/mlb_a_rodriguez_600.jpg
  5. Do I need to post a pic of what a real trophy looks like? From 2003 http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0519/ncf_ap_lsu_bcs2003_600.jpg and from 2007 http://blogs.fayobserver.com/faytoz/files/2008/01/bcs-championship.JPG That other one is just weak.
  6. Yes. It is possible to be a good hitter that does not slug. I never said it wasn't possible to be a good hitter that doesn't slug. However, you implied that a slugger isn't necessarily a good hitter. That is where you are wrong. Hitting for power is as much a part of hitting as making contact. So, to say Sosa wasn't a good "pure hitter" as a way to discount his accomplishments is ludicrous.
  7. Dunn hits a homerun against us. Shocking!
  8. So slugging is different from hitting? It's all about production as a hitter, and Sosa did that better than anyone the Cubs have ever had.
  9. You lie. There's nothing beautiful about Nacogdoches.
  10. You'd think they would send him to Tennessee since he's been playing all year against AA level competition.
  11. He pitches better after a good piece of road snatch.
  12. http://www.geocities.com/stimpysvideotrading/bandb.jpg "Hee hee hee, he said taint."
  13. That wouldn't make Soriano guilty of an atrocity. That would just make him a member of the 1988 Cubs.
  14. I'm going to have to say Sosa was the best Cubs hitter ever.
  15. I would have had to boo Obama for his choice of clothing.
  16. I know we still have time, but what's the verdict?
  17. I'm going to have to drop Bruce, but I need to decide who to replace him with.
  18. Will Marshall be any worse defensively than Soriano?
