  1. Oh yes, I think there are people who want that. I don't get some fans who think being a former player for the Cubs means anything when it comes to managing the team The real question is what will Ricketts do? He's a Cub fan and very likely Sandberg was his hero too. If you're Tom Ricketts can you bring yourself to tell your childhood hero that you're not giving him the job he's openly wanted for at least 5 years? Hiring Sandberg would be a big splash type of move that new owners like to make. I'd rather he hired Jody Davis. I don't know much about Davis as a manager but he has to be better than Sandberg. I'd trust a psychic who claimed he could channel Leo Deroucher from the dead as manager over Sandberg.
  2. This is the single dumbest thing i've read on here & i've read a lot of dumb things here including those that think he should lead off because he "hits leadoff home runs". How often does he do that? Three times a year? If so, is that like drawing the golden ticket or something when you are up 1-0 three times/year? I've searched back through your posts, and frankly I'm having trouble finding any that don't deal with Soriano. While it isn't technically against any rule to criticize Soriano, when that is all you ever do, it borders on trolling. If you offered any kind of insight or comment on other matters, frankly, it might only make your Soriano hatred comical, but since you only comment on him, it is quite annoying and trolling. I'm not getting on you for your hatred of Soriano as I'm sure we have many other posters and Cub fans who share a disdain for him and his contract, but when that's all you ever post about, I have to question whether you are nothing merely than a troll. Let me give you a not so subtle hint. Prove me wrong. Feel free to continue your anti-Soriano crusade if you like, but earn your keep. Show me that you have something else to discuss that is relevant to the Cubs other than your hatred for Soriano.
  3. What's with the entire Cardinal team looking like a pedophile convention?
  4. I hope Zambrano doesn't punch him and then we have to trade Fox for Rob Bowen.
  5. Micheal Barrett could be brought back rather cheaply.
  6. I would have used a different word besides "homer", but I guess that will work too. :-))
  7. If Texas really inflates hitters numbers that much, Millwood must be a god among pitchers this year.
  8. It still worked out better for him than his latest fishing expedition.
  9. I think +100 is a reasonable although not ideal indicator of post season ability. Some guys are cut out for the pressure, some are not. I'm saying they should not be batting leadoff. So, the Astros shouldn't have batted Biggio lead-off in all of those postseasons?
  10. Nope. But they'd probably give us Michael Barrett.
  11. Unfortunately, that's not a play you can protest. And it was a horrible call....much worse than the Jeter one.
  12. Dunston was one of my favorite players, but I'm fairly convinced that at least once in his career Dunston swung at a pick off throw to first.
  13. It's not that bad a call. In real time, there's the possibility that the glove gets his hand. In slo-mo, it's clear he missed it, but the ump didn't see it in slo motion. Now if the ump said, "The ball beat you, he didn't have to tag you," then he's wrong for saying that and should be reprimanded. But if he answered him, "the ball beat you." While it implies he didn't see the tag applied, it's not a horrible answer and explains why Jeter was called out. The umps have to call it like they see it and from where he was positioned, and in real speed, it probably appeared to the ump Jeter was out. And on calls of safe or out, the ump really doesn't have to explain those. They aren't subject to review just as balls and strikes are not.
  14. For my second transaction of the first half, let me drop Larry Jones and pick up Derrek Lee.
  15. As long as no one got on base, the dropped pitches probably wouldn't affect things too much.
  16. I love it when posters come up with cute little nicknames for their favorite players.
  17. And people thought I was nuts for pimping Dubois a few years back....yeesh!
  18. It would have been better had Lilly said, " Who's Mark Buehrle?"
  19. Call me happy that this is the last day of the hideous red caps.
  20. Either Fox or Hoffpauir will have to go down. Fuld definitely is going down. The only other option is to send Fontenot down.
  21. Yes, it is true. Jake Fox also rescues small children. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/vance_the_cubs_fan/addison%20and%20smokies/FoxandAddison.jpg
  22. We should be hitting this journeyman harder than this.
  23. Will you travel with the team or just work home games?
