If the gist of the comment is true, and I have my doubts, Beane would be looking for young prospects to have available in 2011-2012. He may be interested in players like Veal and Paweleck among others. I think the idea is farfetched, but it warranted discussion. -
I found this little nugget at the bottom of a Rosenthal collumn. Blanton could be an interesting option for the rotation. What do you think?

Steroids issue aside, McGwire is a HOF. Yes he has a 263 BA, but a 394 OBP for his career. The only question for many is did steroids make him a HOFer? Without that cloud hanging over him, he's in. No one doubts Reggie Jackson is a HOF, and he has a 262 career BA and a much lower OBP. If Reggie is HOF, so is McGwire unless you think the roids made him that good. Then there is a question. -
who does he think will play CF? Soriano? So you prefer Jones to Floyd? I have a feeling that if the Cubs get Floyd, they will still sign a CF (ala Lofton) and we'll end up with Floyd, Lofton, Soriano with Murton platooning and I don't like that. Floyd and Jones are about the same. Floyd is more productive, but is injury prone.

Why not trade Jones to get Patterson back? hmmmm.

It's not much, but there is a blurb in the Toronto Star that implies the Cubs are pursuing Lilly. Link. It appears that according to Lilly's agent, he wants a contract similar to what Washburn recieved last offseason.

Now, now, don't go de-railin' this here thread. I believe the goal here is for the NFC East to completely beat itself up so nobody gets a wildcard spot, and the division winner is so beaten up it gets blown out in game 1. Right? ;) Don't worry, Tony [expletive] will crap the bed in the playoffs and I'll enjoy every minute of it. Kind of like McNabb puking away a Super Bowl? BTW, how many of those have the Eagles won?
