  1. keep your head in the sand as long as you want, but my guess is Baker is constantly letting Krivsky know the type of player he desires.
  2. Do you have numbers to refute those facts? OBP is not the only means of getting oneself into scoring positions. Doubles, triples, and homeruns do that as well. So, your first argument was that Roberts gets into scoring position more often than Soriano. When that was proven false, you blindly hold to it? Ridiculous!
  3. IBL. See Rivalries.
  4. Baker may not be the GM, but his quotes indicate that he has a role in player acquisitions. He says that he has spoken to Lofton and Patterson. So either Baker is involved in identifying players he wants Krivsky to go after, or he at least believes he has a role. Baker also seems to be aware of the roster crunch in getting a player like Lofton or Patterson. Based on his quotes, it seems to me that Baker is actively involved in helping Krivsky make-over the roster, as frightening as that may be for Reds fans.
  5. 13. Grady Sizemore 14. Prince Fielder 15. Jake Peavy 16. Troy Tulowitzki 17. Victor Martinez 18. Carl Crawford 19. Alfonso Soriano 20. David Ortiz 21. Carlos Beltran 22. Brandon Webb
  6. If the Reds take on that contract, or even half of the dollars associated with it, I will cry with laughter.
  7. TT, makes the point crystal clear. Soriano is just as adept at getting himself in scoring position than Roberts and is more adept at scoring himself via the HR than Roberts ever will be.
  8. And our resident Reds fan thought we didn't know what we were talking about.
  9. It looks that way to me too. The number in the rotation doesn't matter after the first time through.
  10. Reds fans have to love this. Link That in itself may not be all that bad....but then where is he looking to find one?  Oh please let that happen. Sit Jay Bruce so that Corey Patterson can hit lead-off for the Reds. I love me some Dusty Baker!!!! And then this quote about Bruce.
  11. Excellent read, Meph. I think you have constructed an excellent team. Keep us informed.
  12. Nah, we're just having different arguments this time around.
  13. People aren't against the trade, for the most part. They're against giving up too much for Roberts. That sums up my opinion. Do I think Roberts is an upgrade over Derosa? Certainly, I do. Is he enough of an upgrade to give up Gallageher along with other valuable players? I don't think so.
  14. I like Ceda's potential, but I would have included him depending on what the other players were. A Ceda + Murton+Cedeno? yes. But it's possible that the Orioles wanted Gallagher + Ceda + Murton or Cedeno. I'm not sure if Ceda would have been the reason I'd have pulled the plug, but I do think having Ceda and Gallagher in the same deal for Roberts might be paying a bit much.
  15. I'm bumping this. Last chance to get in on a team before we double up.
  16. I'd much rather have the Royals in our division instead of the Brewers.
  17. I can't believe they would even run with that rumor. First, Aram has a no-trade clause. Secondly, it would be incredibly stupid.
  18. If I get over my laziness, I'll post a pic at some point.
  19. I'd rather watch a cat fight any day. http://cbruen.com/blog/cats_fighting_102006.jpg
  20. why do you assume arod and pujols are dirty, but manny plays clean? It's probably because he likes Manny but doesn't like Arod and Pujols. It seems to be the modus de jour to accuse all great players that a person doesn't like as being a juicer whether there's any shread of credible proof or not.
  21. I try not to hate on any Cubs, but if I did my list would include: 1. Todd Hundley 2. Mel Rojas 3. Rey Sanchez
