  1. I'd do the deal with just Marshall substituted for Gallagher. I'd think of doing the deal as is. Yeah. If Marshall were subbed for Gallagher, I could live with the deal.
  2. If MacPhail really wants all that for Roberts, Hendry should walk away. The team as constructed is strong enough to keep us in contention until teams put players up on the market in mid summer.
  3. I don't get excited about a new park unless I'm going to attend a game there. This year I'm taking a vacation to California when the Cubs play the Padres and Dodgers, so I'm excited about seeing those parks even though they aren't new. If I ever make it around to one of the new parks, I'll get excited. But if you're watching the game on TV, the park makes only a minimal amount of impact on the viewing experience.
  4. If Murton is dealt, Fox would be a decent option there. Josh Kroeger might be a decent option for a bat off the bench as well.
  5. Vince Young comparisons aside, Terrell Pryor will play QB and in all liklihood be a damn good one. He's going to end up at a school where he will have good players around him. He has the size and athletic ability to make plays. To suggest that an athlete with his skills move around to another position is simply ludicrous. I guess the only way it makes sense to move Pryor from QB is if the team recruited two players for the same position. However, my guess is Pryor isn't going to chose to play anywhere he isn't promised to play QB. He has that kind of leverage.
  6. The Dodgers also have interest in Blanton. Link. The chances of the Reds getting him for any less than Votto + one of Bailey or Cuetto are slim. It appears the A's know they may have the last available decent starter for trade. Blanton's contract isn't bad, so the A's don't have to trade him. It looks like Beane is only letting him go if he can reload with some nice young players.
  7. ouch. is he worth it? he's getting up there in years isnt he?? That's probably why they franchised him. Flozell is coming off another pro-bowl season and is likely looking to make big money over 4-5 years. Good left tackles usually make pretty big dollars on the FA market. The Cowboys may be worried that Free or McQuistan aren't ready to step in and replace him. This way, while they'll have to pay him big bucks for one year, they aren't locked into a long-term commitment. I figured it could happen.
  8. The NFL Network is reporting that the Cowboys have placed the franchise tag on Flozell Adams.
  9. I remember one day he told us not to sit by him, 'cause somebody was gonna shoot him that day. We were like, 'Oh, Hank, we're down with you man.' Y'know, and me and Ralph were lookin' the whole time and he wasn't even — he wasn't lookin,' acting like he wasn't afraid at all.
  10. And just face it, there's no way Hatteberg or Freel get benched for Votto and Bruce, because If you have a girlfriend and another one comes along, should you put your girlfriend down because the next girl is just as pretty? That ain't right.
  11. Oh, and get ready to hear about Hank Aaron....lots of stories about Hank Aaron.
  12. It's like the black box on the airplane. The airplane has a failure. Everybody is going to see later if it was pilot error or mechanical error or whatever. The one thing you learn about life, no matter what job you are in, you're going to have your turn to be in that box.
  13. Right. It's just like fishing. You're going striped bass fishing. You've got birds on top and you follow the birds. Where the birds are, the bait fish are below that. Below the bait fish are the striped bass. That's what you want to do. That's how you want to do your lineup. That way they can't escape. That's how I try to make my lineup out so the opposition can't pitch around this guy or that guy and that guy and can't escape. You try to get them in the crossfire.
  14. Hopefully this time we'll get someone better than freddy bynum. I assume Freddy "Boom-Boom" Bynum will be heading to the Reds.
  15. I have years of watching Dusty Baker on my side. I'm well versed in the ways of the Toothpick.
  16. Aww come on! You don't want the BUNCH OF CRAP package?
  17. I doubt Fuld is on the team. It seems that either Pie or Fuld will make the team, but not both. I'm guessing that we'll acquire someone else for the bench toward the end of ST.
  18. Dusty didn't need Hamilton when he plans on playing Free in CF.
  19. omg Yeah dude, we wouldn't give them up for Bedard or Haren so it's obvious we would do it for Blanton. They wanted Bruce for Bedard. Beane is willing to deal for only Cuetto. Cuetto is only a pony, dude. Blanton is a horse. Can't win without the horses, dude. I must have missed where Dusty was the GM. Dusty has always influenced player acquisitions. My guess is he has the ear in Cincy as well. Dusty is going to want some horses and has little use for the kids unless they help him get one of the horses.
  20. Freel will play CF and lead-off. Book it.
