  1. He could have been talking about Roberts and Nathan, as Nathan would pitch more than just every five days.
  2. The team looks strong, Tim. Good luck.
  3. If ST counts, I've seen every team but the Giants.
  4. AL EAST Boston (At Wrigley, Fenway, and Ballpark in Arlington) NY Yankees (Ballpark in Arlington) Toronto (Ballpark in Arlington) Baltimore (Ballpark in Arlington and Camden) Tampa Bay (Ballpark in Arlington) AL CENTRAL Cleveland (Ballpark in Arlington) Detroit (Cell,Ballpark in Arlington, and Camden) Minnesota (Fenway and Ballpark in Arlington) Chicago Sox (Wrigley, Cell, and Ballpark in Arlington) AL WEST LA Angels (Ballpark in Arlington) Seattle (Ballpark in Arlington) Oakland (Ballpark in Arlington) Texas (Ballpark in Arlington) NL EAST Philadelphia (Old Veterans Stadium, Wrigley) NY Mets (Wrigley, Ballpark in Arlington) Atlanta (Turner and BPIA) Washington (MMP- but they were the Expos when I saw them.) Florida (Wrigley, Turner, MMP, Busch) NL CENTRAL Chicago Cubs (Wrigley, MMP, Turner, BPIA, Busch, BOB) Milwaukee (Wrigley, BPIA) St. Louis (Busch) Houston (MMP, Atlanta Fulton) Cincinnati (Veterans, MMP) NL WEST Arizona (BOB) Colorado (BPIA) LA Dodgers (BPIA) San Diego (Atlanta Fulton County Stadium) The only teams I haven't seen in person are the Royals, Giants, and Pirates.
  5. If we got Roberts and all we had to give up were Colvin and Marquis, I'd be extremely pleased.
  6. I like the idea if I was assured that a prison sentence wouldn't interrupt Bonds's season.
  7. That deal wouldn't surprise me at all. Another thing to consider is the Orioles could be having 40-man problems and might want a prospect that they won't have to roster. Does Ceda or Burke fit that description?
  8. Well, it looks like McPherson has signed a deal with the Marlins. (source:rotoworld)
  9. There's a link to it on the Cubs.com homepage, so I'm pretty sure at this point anyone who wants to can buy one.
  10. On the May 10-11th weekend, do we want to go for Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th? I'll be at both, but we probably need to settle on for our bleacher seats. (edited for correct dates)
  11. Where's that at? They sent out a new email offering the Starting 9 pack to people registered at Cubs.com (not necessarily awaiting season tickets). I got the second email on Monday. It features the following dates: Friday, August 8 vs. St. Louis Cardinals Friday, September 19 vs. St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, September 20 vs. St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, July 12 vs. San Francisco Giants Saturday, August 30 vs. Philadelphia Phillies link Read the email carefully. You don't get all those dates, you get to choose from those dates. If you click the link to buy tickets, you still have pretty much the same choices as the original starting nine pack had, except some of the dates (Friday White Sox) are no longer available. You still have to choose a bunch od April and May dates and you can't choose all five of those to make up the pack.
  12. If the price is right, I'd have some interest in Crsip. I'm not sure I'd want to do a three player deal if Murton and Wuertz are two of those three. I'd deal Murton for Crisp and likely throw in another player. Murton + Dempster or Murton + Marquis, and I'd have no reservations. Murton + Wuertz appears a bit costly, but is likely doable. The third player in a deal like that would have to be someone I don't think we'd miss.
  13. My guess is the Mariners couldn't afford to give Santana the extension, so it would have just been a waste of time. True, but how much do you think Bedard will get if he has a great season this year? Bedard doesn't have a no-trade clause that he will only waive if he gets his extension.
  14. My guess is the Mariners couldn't afford to give Santana the extension, so it would have just been a waste of time.
  15. If Angelos nixed the deal, I have two questions: 1. Why does MacPhail not tender his resignation? 2. Why would any team waste their time negotiating with anyone other than Angelos?
  16. If it's true, and there's no way to be sure if it is, that Angelos may kill this deal and that he killed the deal the Cubs had for Roberts, there's going to come a time where teams may be reluctant to deal with the Orioles because they may fear they are just wasting their time.
  17. Maybe they'll finally vote for the Cubs. You underestimate the shady tactics of those who count the votes... [-X That's just a sign you aren't playing dirty enough to inspire their fear. You can't beat people who cheat by doing a shoddy job of it yourself. You have to stoop to the level that they'd have to question their humanity in order to continue on. Try abducting their pets. If they push the issue, send back the tail. They'll fold.
  18. Duece, There's some reading you need. I suggest you begin with The Hidden Game of Baseball. It's old, but it still carries some worth, at least the first few chapters. When you finish that one, we'll move on to more meatier and recent works.
  19. I don't think McFadden slips past the Raiders, though Justin Fargas did a nice job. I know Jerry Jones is in love with him though and being from Arkansas that makes him love him even more. I would be perfectly happy with Felix Jones as a late 1st round pick, and think he could be a real steal in the draft as well. If they some how pulled it off and got McFadden I would more than happy. I certainly wouldn't be upset with McFadden, but I think I'd almost like to see the Cowboys go CB with one pick (If McKelvin or Cromartie are there) and then WR with the next. I think Jamal Charles will be there at the end of the second, and I'd grab him then.
  20. I don't think the fellows at DodgerBlues ever were in love with Pierre.
  21. Me too. As I started thinking WWJHD, I kept hearing this voice from the burning bushes whisper the name ...Pierre. (followed by cackling laughter from the entire community called DodgerBlues...), and the more I kept trying to shake it, the image of Stymie kept coming back. It's frightening, but I could see it happening.
  22. The idea isn't to keep those four. The idea is to use those four in a trade that would be more of an upgrade than from Lofton "up" to Figgins... Theriot up to any real shortstop is a much larger improvement than Figgins would be over Lofton, if he is one at all. Let me guess, you think Khalil Greene over Theriot is more of an upgrade than Figgins over Lofton?? Cuz there arent any other shortstops out there that are available. And Greene is awful! Yes, Greene over Theriot is a much bigger upgrade than Figgins over Lofton. Much bigger. I'd pull some stats to prove it, but you probably saw all four players on TV a few times. How could I argue against that? It's a colossal upgrade from Theriot to Greene. Think the size of Jim Hendry's pants upgrade.
  23. It's rumored that Hendry has two deals on the table that make him very excited. (That doesn't mean they'll excite us, but who knows.) One of course is believed to be Roberts. What price we'll pay is unknown. We all assume that Gallagher will be there, but will it be Gallagher + Cedeno+ Murton or some variation that we haven't looked at? I really don't know. The second trade is a little more mystifying. My assumption is the second trade would be either for another pitcher or would be to acquire a centerfielder. While many here would look at Greene or another SS as the way to go, I think it's fairly easy to ascertain that route is what Hendry will do. So, what are these deals if they really do exist? I think one possibility that we've discussed is Figgins. I think if the Cubs trade for Figgins, it means that Pie is moved in the Roberts deal. We know the Orioles want him, and I don't see him going to the Angels. If we trade for Figgins, I anticipate DeRosa could be part of the deal. He's stated he wants to start, and the Angels might see him as a capable third baseman. So, could the deals be Gallagher + Pie + Patterson for Roberts and DeRosa + ? for Figgins? But then would including Pie in the Roberts deal allow the Cubs to sub Gallagher with another pitcher, maybe a veteran like Marquis? I also could see the other deal being one that rids the Cubs of players that are rumored to be available such as Marquis, Murton or Dempster. As I looked around the league, I became stricken with fear that Jim might consider this a deal to go for... Murton to the Dodgers for Pierre and cash. Jim loved Juan when he was here and I could see him being giddy over his return. Finally, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of sending either Dempster or Marquis to the southside for Brain Anderson.
