  1. Deal done. We get to keep Pie. Corey is a goner anyways. Price is a little steep, but I'd do the deal.
  2. I so thought I was out of the playoffs after losing to Ditka's Army two weeks ago. Those two loses dropped me out of the top four for the first time since the third week. Raw, I thought you might beat Cut for Cap Space to get me into the playoffs and when that didn't happen, I was worried and all my hopes rested on Roast's crappy team. When L.T. didn't do a damn thing, I was nervous. He needed 19 points from Vick to get the win and he did... Now I have to hope my re-vamped team can do some damage in the playoffs.
  3. From everything we've read and heard this offseason Walker won't be back. I don't understand it personally, but it looks like Hendry has made a decision. That said, I wouldn't my seeing Hudson at 2nd base. We'd need more offense at SS and RF though if Hendry did trade for Hudson. I agree that from what we've read, he won't be back...but...he's still here now and they did pick up the option. If the trade markets really are as dry as they seem, Hendry may have to choose to give Walker away or keep him. I think that's where the choices become interesting. While I don't necessarily agree that we'll have to trade Walker to improve RF, I could at least see the reasoning behind it. But if no one wants Walker in a trade for a RF, why move him anyway? We've already improved the pen. Rightfield or an improvement at the MI are the only reasons I can see to move Walker.
  4. I think hunting would be a sport if all hunters had to wear antlers. Being able to hunt and stay alive would take great skill.
  5. I think he slept with Ryno's wife. So did everyone else. What's the big deal?
  6. Well, until he's traded I'm still holding out hope Walker is with the team. Unless he's the chip to bring in a rightfielder, I can't see a reason to trade him.
  7. Yeah, I have a tough time seeing the organization outright giving up on him, but who knows. Did you see my earlier post in this thread CPatt? Indeed, I never would've guessed my Buccaneers allegiance would've saved me here. So, when (if) Patterson is gone, are you changing your screen name?
  8. How about figure skating? Sport or no? Scrabble? Sport or no? Hunting? Sport or no?
  9. Did they have a quality leadoff hitter in 1908? Didn't Johnny Evers hit lead-off for that team? Here was his line in 1908: 300/402/375 Well checking with retrosheet, it appears that Evers hit mainly in the 2-spot with LF Jimmy Sheckard hitting lead-off. Sheckard put up a 231/336/305 line in 1908.

  11. I think this pretty much rules out Reggie Sanders. Three years to an oft injured 38-yr old? Let me be the first to say, "HEeeellllllll No!"
  12. It looks as if "Jurassic" Carl Everett is about to sign a deal with the Mariners. Link Hopefully, this will open the Mariners up to the possibility of trading Ibanez. The article indicates the Mariners are frustrated in their attempts to obtain pitching. I wonder if they would consider a deal built around Williams for Ibanez?
  13. But that begs the question still, are the Dodgers going to non-tender him? If they are, then they should take the best of whatever offers they get. On the other hand, if they intend to keep him, then the bidding rises.
  14. Bruce, if you stop by and see this, I was just wondering what the reason for this might be. Is it that Baker came away from his meeting less than impressed with Bradley? Are the Dodgers now considering keeping him? Has the asking price by the Dodgers gotten to high? Is Bradley not willing to play rigthfield? I'm just curious as to what has now made Bradley a dim proposition to the point that we would begin to look at Jones. Let's remember that it takes two teams to make a trade. From everything I've heard, the Dodgers seem to be in no hurry to trade Bradley to the Cubs. So, it's on the Dodgers end then. Do you suspect the Dodgers will tender him a contract on December 20th?
  15. Jacque Jones- 2005: 249/319/438 2004: 254/315/427 2005: 304/333/464 Reggie Sanders- 2005: 271/340/546 2004: 260/315/482 2003: 285/345/567 Even at his advance age, Sanders is a more productive hitter than Jones.
  16. How could that be true, don't they now have the money they would have paid Clemens? Last year the Astros payroll was around 85 million dollars. This year, they owe Pettitte 17.5 million, Bagwell 17 million, Berkman 14.5 million, Oswalt 11 million, and Biggio 4 million. That's 64 million for just 5 players. Lidge and Ensberg will get nice paydays in arbitration. They do have some money to spend, but they have to be careful how they allocate it as there's just not a lot of wiggle room there.

  18. I wonder what creative stat Hendry will pull out of his rear end at the press conference announcing this signing. Rmemeber his quote at the Burnitz signing everyone?
  19. After reading the Jacque Jones thread, I'll have to say....Wilson would be a much, much better option than Jacque Jones.
  20. Ugh...no to Jones please. There's got to be a better option that that. I'd rather take a flyer on Richard Hidalgo, who hasn't had a good year since 2003, than to sign Jones to a multi-year contract. :puke:
  21. Thanks to Roast and an awesome performance by Michael Vick, my team sneaks into the playoffs. (I was a bit nervous as I'm the only effing team to lose twice to Ditka's Army.) Anyway, playoff match-ups: Around the Joe Horn vs Midway Monsters Raw Dawgs vs Cut for Cap Space.
