  1. Would love Perez for the bench/platoon as well(especially now), maybe it will serve to pacify Baker's "need" to put his fingerprints on everything and anything. Walker best be here batting 2nd opening day, unless used in a deal for a difference maker only. I have to believe he will be since the Cubs don't need to trade for an OFer anymore I'm not convinced. Patterson still has to be moved and I see Walker (and others) being included in a deal to get another MI or SP. At this point, we can't afford to move Walker. We need his bat more than ever. Trading Walker now would be stupid.
  2. This signing is bad on so many levels. Jones sucks, so it's bad in the short term. To give him 3 years is just ridiculous! Hendry got desperate for a rightfielder and made another horrible choice.
  3. Maybe we can get a team to give us three major league pitchers for Pierre at the deadline.
  4. Jacque Jones doesn't help us win this year...not next....not the year after. I can live with the win now if it brings in a player that actually will help you win now. Had we given Giles a 3/55 contract that could cripple us in year 2 or 3 then I'd say that was a "win now" move. This is just three years of outfield suckage.
  5. And if Hendry signs Pierre to an extension, we're looking forward to a Murton-Pierre-Jones OF for the next three years! Ok...with that outfield, we sure as hell better keep Walker in the line-up. If Hendry still follows through on trading Walker, he should be fired on the spot.
  6. It's signings like this that tempt me to use many, many profanities.
  7. Three year deal! What the hell is the matter with Hendry? This is freaking ridiculous.
  8. Can we send the Mariners Patterson on the condition that Meche is dealt to the Cardinals?
  9. I'd take a flyer on him surely, but I'd rather have taken an injury gamble on Dotel.
  10. I just found out that Jose Macias is no longer with the Cubs. Wouldn't he look good in rightfield for the Cubs? -- Edward K., Indianapolis, Ind.
  11. Burnitz was just as responsible for the disaster in the outfield as the rest of the partcipants. 258/322/435 is pretty much horrible. Point taken. But at least Burny wasn't killing this team in other areas of his game. Personally, I'd rather watch Bernie's futility at the plate, than Alou's evrywhere else. Though neither option is the obvious pereference. :) I was never a fan of Alou, but I think I'd take the deficiencies in his game over what Burntiz provided along with his 900 OPS.
  12. Burnitz was just as responsible for the disaster in the outfield as the rest of the partcipants. 258/322/435 is pretty much horrible.
  13. Considering the other options, I'd take Alou back in a heartbeat. That being said, I pretty certain the Giants have no interest in trading him.
  14. I think Hendry had envisioned Walker as the trading chip to get an outfielder. I think he thought this when he picked up the option and he thought this when he signed Perez. I think this line of reasoning has caused Hendry to consider Walker expendable. He was a trading chip. Two things have occured since: Hendry failed to land Furcal and for whatever reasons, Walker has not yielded what Hendry has desired. I don't know how this will impact Hendry's reasoning. It is possible that Hendry will realize that he's better off keeping Walker. Or he may sell him for whatever he can get. I have no clue.
  15. I don't think the Lofton signing indicates too much, but if they also sign Sanders, they will have a huge surplus of outfielders. I'd see if maybe they'd be interested in trading Cruz. While not a great option, Curz would be better than anything we have currently slated for rightfield.
  16. That just goes to show you how sucky the remaining outfielders are.
  17. If they land both Lofton and Sanders, where would that leave Cruz? How about helping them out and taking Drew off of their hands? My thoughts exactly...but on the other hand, I wouldn't mind Cruz either.
  18. According to this, the Dodgers are pursuing both Reggie Sanders and Kenny Lofton? If they land both Lofton and Sanders, where would that leave Cruz?
  19. I'd try to see how cheaply Wilson could be acquired from Pittsburgh and hvae a Wilson/Patterson platoon in right.
  20. Hopefully, STL or some other team offers 3.
  21. This would be a good deal in my opinion...and I'm not high on Huff. Considering our other options, Huff would be ok. Wellemeyer is likely waived at the end of ST if he isn't traded, so it's basically Guzman for Huff. As high as Guzman's ceiling is, he's been hurt enough that I think this could be a good way to get value for him. I'd hope we wouldn't have to give up Hill for Huff. If we trade Hill, I'd hope we'd do better than Huff.
  22. Wow...if this site is maintained properly, it could quickly become one of my favorite sites.
  23. And what would you prefer we use to support our opinions? Since it's impossible for each person to watch 162 games of all 30 mlb teams, looking at the stats is the best way to give an objective view of what is happening.
  24. Isn't the author, James Renwick, the same guy who wrote the article for ITI that guaranteed us Furcal and Soriano? Is he now making up stuff over there as well?
  25. Jacque Jones sucks. It's as simple as that.
