  1. I always figured the horse only knew the short guy stopped beating on his ass with a stick.
  2. So, in horse racing, does the horse know if he wins or not?
  3. Looks like heavily in favor of no.
  4. Word around the Rangers board is that the PTBNL will be Ricardo Rodriguez.
  5. Is there anyone at all who fits those parameters and is available? Manny.
  6. All this means is that Lucchino is calling the shots.
  7. Except that Wilson is 9 years younger.
  8. I'm not surprised the Phillies trade Padilla. I am surprised that it was for a PTBNL. That's what's shocking. Good move for the Rangers. Puzzling move for the Phillies.
  9. Interesting move. My guess is Philly was considering non-tendering Padilla. He's a solid pick-up for the Rangers and for them to get him for a PTBNL makes the move really nice for them.
  10. Have you watched the Saints play?!?! I'm guaranteed to make it through this week.
  11. I wouldn't rank him ahead of Wilkerson, Bradley, Ibanez, Tracy, Floyd, Green, Huff as options; but Wilson would be a better option than signing Preston Wilson, Jacque Jones, or Juan Encarnacion to multi-year deals. I'd rank him equal to Mench and he's probably going to be cheaper to acquire.
  12. 1. Adam Dunn 2. Brad Wilkerson 3. Chad Tracy 4. Shawn Green 5. Raul Ibanez
  13. I still think Hendry will answer rightfield via the trade market. If he could get Jones on a one-year deal, I could see him going that route, but Hendry likely thinks the following: 1. Felix Pie could be ready in 2007. 2. Matt Murton will be here in 2007. 3. I want to keep Juan Pierre beyond this season. With those three ideas, I don't think he's going to be easily married to an outfielder unless it is one he thinks is worth the effort. For that reason, I think he will consider Jones only after all other avenues have been exhausted. Right now, teams are still sorting out options. The premiere free agents are off the market, but teams are still shopping. I believe once Matt Morris goes to S.F. and Washburn and Weaver sign, Texas may be willing to trade either Wilkerson or Mench in a package that includes Jerome Williams. I still think Seattle could change its mind about Ibanez. The Dodgers are still trying to drive up the price for Bradley, but will likely move him in the next 9 days. Arizona will move either a corner outfielder or infielder, so that's somewhere to watch as well. I think there are still a number of options via trade that are more attractive than the left-over free agents who will want too much money for too many years.
  14. As I was traveling between work locations this afternoon, I listened to XM 175. Chuck Wilson was interviewing a beat writer from Pittsburgh (sorry I can't recall who), and he was discussing the fact that Jim Tracy had a "type" of player that he wanted Littlefield to acquire and those who didn't fit that type (Rob Mackowiak) were being traded. He mentioned that Craig Wilson strikes out too much for Tracy's tastes and indicated that Wilson was being shopped. At first, my response was "meh...we can do better than Craig Wilson." But, I looked up his numbers here, and he's not that bad. 2005: 264/387/421 2004: 264/354/499 2003: 262/360/511 He's righthanded, and I think we'd all prefer a left handed bopper in right. But, he's appears to be a better option than Mench. I wouldn't say he should be priority number one, but I might at least inquire what the Pirates would want should we want to attain him. Thoughts?
  15. All the reviews I've read of that make it sound like a pretty good read, I think I might pick it up. What's your opinion of it? I liked it. I enjoyed reading some of the inside info on the agent business and such. The agents he focuses on aren't big time agents either, so it gives a person an outlook on how difficult it is to break in that kind of business.
  16. If I could be convinced that Vidro is healthy, I'd go for it. I'm just not convinced of his health at all. If the cost was Patterson and Wellemeyer (two players the Cubs will dump for nothing anyway), I might take a gamble, but there's a big chance we'd be trading for damaged goods here.
  17. UUhhhh.............Manny plays left? He was a rightfielder in Cleveland. He's probably played as many games in his career in right as he has in left.
  18. I'm guessing no trade. This will all blow over. Forget about Tejada. Time to find that rightfielder.
  19. I think Clemens's issues with Boston were more with the Duquette regime than the Red Sox themselves.
  20. Ray King = 242lbs Rincon= 190 lbs. Yep. I agree.
  21. And reared in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Peabody High School there.
  22. About an hour ago, I was talking to a friend of mine who is a die hard Cards fan. He said, and I quote, "Matty Mo's biggest problem is he smokes too much weed". I thought for a moment that you were going to say the same thing. I take it baseball doesn't test for that? Well, in this case, it's the pot calling the kettle black. Not that I'm proud to admit it, but my buddy is almost as reliable as a lab when it comes to identifying users. I'm sure there have been plenty of times he's been wrong, but it really is a sick sixth sense with him. So, I'm guessing baseball doesn't test for it. If they did, according to him, most of the Cardinals team would be suspended right now. I'm pretty sure Burger King has a bad case of the munchies. I think in his case it's just being fat.
  23. The Cubs interviewed Gonzalez when they hired Dusty and from what I heard were very impressed. They had their sights set on Dusty, though. I think Gonzalez may have been the second choice if Dusty hadn't accepted the job.
  24. As much as we like to malign Hughes around these parts, looking at the players he drafted and developed in Montreal shows that he has quite an impressive track record regardless of his methods.
