  1. He has a .367 OBP with a .530 slugging %. He has 12 homeruns. I wouldn't call him a soft hitter. And we could use someone like this on the team. Seriously, walks are a good thing.
  2. Seriously, I hope it's too wet for anyone to play tommorow. I don't even want to know what lineups Dusty is going to throw out there tommorow.
  3. If they somehow get the game in, what's the over/under for Cubs' hits tonight?
  4. Good news, indeed. He could start as early as tomorrow night. I'm hoping the last 2 games in Atlanta are rained out and the Marlin games are postponed because of the hurricane. I'd rather see Lee just rest his sore shoulder until the All-Star game. You know he's not going to sit himself out voluntarily for that long.
  5. Wow. I was wondering why there were already 6 premium pages before the game even started. Now I see why. What a joke of a lineup. Dusty must have had enough, but he's too stubborn to quit so he has to try and get fired. There are 5 year olds who can put together a better lineup than that.
  6. Is it wrong to hope for this? It's probably the best-case-scenario as of right now.
  7. :willynilly: :ohnoes:
  8. Sounds like Jim Leylandwants to get back into coaching. He's a good candidate. I'd say Girardi would also be a good candidate, but I think the Yanks are grooming him to replace Torre. I also think Speier might get a chance if Dusty if fired.
  9. BS........ Look at Atlanta's injuries. Half their lineup is rookies and they are still winning. The big difference: the rookies get a chance to play in Atlanta...
  10. Although I cannot guarantee that any MLB player has visited the site, I do know that some Minor League guys have visited. I wonder if Hoops actually emailed that, or if Rozner just took it straight from the "Could this deal with Texas make sense" thread in the transactions forum. :D
  11. Barry Rozner's favorite GM not in baseball today made it into his column again. Daily Herald
  12. Another sweet loss by the Cubs tonight. :puke:
  13. 65% Dusty 35% Hendry I won't even rehash the innumberable reasons why Dusty is more to blame than Hendry again in this thread. Go back a few pages, it's all there. (or as much of it as I felt like typing out) and its not hendrys fault that he can bring up all the good young talent he wants (cedeno) but Baker wont play a darned one. Umm....I don't really think you know who Ronny Cedeno is. Here's his numbers from AAA this year. Minor Leauge Baseball.com
  14. Cubs.com is saying it's some inflammation that he's had for some time now. He was invited to participate in the Home Run Derby, but declined because of it. I hope it's nothing more serious.
  15. I think Speier would become interim manager if Dusty were fired.
  16. It's all about tools man. Those are the most important thing.
  17. Yeah, I don't remember seeing Jimy a month ago.
  18. The Trib is spending alot of money for this crap, and I doubt they are too happy. I'll go out on a limb and say that if the Cubs win less than 2 of the remaining games before the ASB, Dusty gets the axe. Based on the teams performance & the decisions being made by Dusty, boy I hope your right! Maybe the Cubs can salvage some of this season. Is there another Jack McKeon type manager out there? I never thought I'd see you write something like this TrueBlue. You know things are going bad when even the most optimistic fans are calling for Dusty's head. He needs to go already. Early in the season, I wasn't ready to completely right Dusty off, b/c of a few questionable decisions. I was willing to give him some time & the benefit of the doubt & remain optimistic that he could get the job done. Boy have I been wrong. It bothered me that some posters were so pessimistic so early in the season towards Dusty & JH. Bashing management or other Cubs players is something I felt Trolls do. Pessimism isn't something I like to pertake in. However, now I have changed my mind & realize Dusty getting the axe sooner than leter would be beneficial to the future of this orginization. I'm an optimist @ heart like most true Cub fans, but Dusty has driven me to the brink & I have had enough! Answer me this: Wasn't the Cubs bench in 03' a little more reliable than 04' or 05'? I know the Cubs had the likes of: Goodwin,Harris,Simon,Martinez & a platoon situation of Choi & Karros. Am I missing anyone? Thoughts?? I've never seen more stupidity by one person that I see daily with Dusty Baker. And the fact that seemingly the whole world sees the stupid mistakes that Dusty makes every day, but yet he is too stubborn to change his ways is just scary. I have a feeling he's going to be on his way out in the next few weeks. Or at least I hope so. The thing about our bench this year is that it really isn't as bad as it's shown. The problem is is Dusty decides to use Macias or E. Wilson instead of Dubois or Hairston in key situations just because they are more "experienced". Wilson had no right being on this team, but Macias isn't that bad if he was used properly. The fact that Hairston and Dubois still ride the pine while Macias, Wilson, and even Neifi early on in the season were used in critical situations is just another reason why Dusty needs to go immediately.

  20. Each day I'm more and more amazed by how predictable Dusty's stupidity has become. Neifi batting leadoff again? Come on already. :wall:
  21. I remember reading an article in one of the New York papers saying that the Mets caught him peaking back at the catcher and were going to plunk him next game, but he went to Willie Randolph and apologized to him, so they didn't plunk him. WGN seems to have caught onto him peaking back because there's been numerous broadcasts where the camerman have isolated his eyes right before the pitch is thrown. I'm surprised he doesn't get earholed every once in a while for peaking back. I'm sure teams are aware of him trying to do it. Maybe they just feel sorry for him since it doesn't seem to work for him very well.
  22. I think it's safe to say as of right now Holla and Dubois are better options in LF than Corey. :newugh:
  23. Sosa is 1 for is last 38. He's only hit 2 balls of his last 16 at-bats into the outfield. He's struggling badly.
  24. "But man, that Patterson dude is faster. You gotta have the fastest dude at the top of the lineup so he can steal bases for you. My team needs speed at the top no matter what. What is OBP?"
  25. I'm pretty sure it's always 2 hours before gametime. So that would be 4:35 CT. By the way, Colon has an 6+ ERA. Doesn't that pretty much guarantee that he'll take a no-hitter into the 6th or 7th inning?
