  1. Where was that 2 months ago???
  2. Dubois has no chance now, at least this year. With Holla finally starting to hit the ball a little bit I think Dubois will be seeing a lot of games from the bench now. I think most of us around here knew that Dubois wouldn't really get much of a chance to show what he's made of. He pretty much had to be an all-star to get a legitimate shot at playing time. He had all of 3 weeks as a starter and now he's probably finished with the Cubs. We just aren't very likely to develop any homegrown everyday position players while Dusty Baker is here. Personally I view all our minor league hitters primarily as trade bait. I just don't understand it. Dusty has no problem using rookie pitchers, but when it comes to rookie hitters they never get much of a chance. I'm hoping Dubois keeps getting some starts every once in a while and gets more pinch hit at-bats, and then is promised a starting corner outfield position next year. I don't want him traded away. We need at least one position player who's making around league minimum next year.

  4. There's an article on InsidetheIvy.com with Oneri Fleita that says Guzman is fine and will resume his throwing program next week. It also says that Guzman is in the best shape of his life. Let's hope he finally can get it together.
  5. I haven't had high hopes for him in quite a while. I've always held out some hope that he would amount to something eventually, but for the past year that something has more or less been a servicable reliever. I admit I had hopes for him when he pitched in spring training this year. I was excited about the possibility of him joining the big team a little after the season started. I was duped once again. :(
  6. Does Guzman even play baseball anymore? I heard he broke his leg in 6 spots while walking to 7-eleven for a slurpee. :D Every year we go in with high hopes for this guy and every year he spends an extended time on the DL. He's dead to me now.
  7. Sorry. Ann Arbor, Michigan to Park Ridge, Ill is a little too long of a beer run for me. :D
  8. Link for more Well, it's just not our year. ESPN just broke in with an update on the Yankees / Bo Sox game and said that Prior has a slight fracture in his elbow. it's never our year. i'm glad i'm already drunk. Not drunk yet, but I'm catching up in a hurry. I seriously cannot believe our luck. Why does this crap happen to us? I think the Cubs' brass should have that bar owner (can't remember the name of the bar) and a goat sit in a luxury suite for the entire rest of this year so maybe the curse will be lifted and we can compete next year.
  9. The Cubs have a total of only 122 walks this year. Adam Dunn has 37 walks all by himself, meaning if he played for the Cubs he'd have over 30% of the walks for the team. Note to Hendry: please get Dunn.
  10. Words can't even describe how ridiculous this team is. From Carlos and his computer to this, what's next? Dempster breaking a leg while trying to pop a wheelie on his bike on his way home from the ballpark?
  11. What's next, the Cubs are gonna say it's from masturbating too much???
  12. I must have missed something. What's wrong with Remmy?
  13. *sigh of relief* Dempster isn't a great pitcher, but we can't afford to lose another pitcher to the DL. Is it bad that I'm always nervous when I see this thread has a new post in it?
  14. In my current state of mind regarding the Cubs, I really think he is trying to lose. I've been disappointed in the past. But never so early. Not even when they went 0-11. There's no other possible explanation for the way Dusty manages this team. In all fairness though, I think our bullpen is trying to lose games for us as well. :wall:
  15. Is it really fair to get worked up over a 5.40 ERA in 5 IP? Especially when all 3 runs surrendered by Leicester came as he was hitting his pitch limit in his first start and was obviously tiring. I wish he'd have been stretched out before he came up, but I'm not that upset that Leicester is the one replacing Dempster in the rotation. I'm more upset that Dempster and his lovely control will now be closing. It's not just the 5.40 era in Iowa. It's not like he was stellar when he was pitching for the Cubs either. And they didn't stretch him out that much at all so he's probably going to be done after 4 innings or so. Our bullpen is probably going to get worn out on Monday. Good thing we have a day off on Thursday.
  16. dubois dunn and sledge will be the all-star outfield i vote for So you're voting for someone who never plays and someone who's on the DL for the season with a torn hamstring. Good votes. :D
  17. Well, might as well get an early start on tommorow's bad moves by Dusty. According to Cubs.com, Dusty is starting Leicester and moving Dempster into the closer's role for now. Leicester has a 5.40 era in Iowa. I'm sure tommorow will turn out well.
  18. Two runners on for the Cubs in the 9th against Wagner and the Phillies. A homerun would tie the game. Who does Dusty bring up for the RBI opportunity? Jerry "freakin" Hairston. Last I checked he wasn't much of an RBI man. Hairston grounds into a double play to pretty much dash the Cubs hope once again. Then Dusty let's the RBI man in Dubois hit. Dusty needs to be fired immediately.
  19. Some more crappy news for us: Nomar at Least a Month Away From Starting Rehab
  20. I guess you guys are in the same boat we are for a while. I know La Russa said closer-by-commitee, but who do you see being the primary closer while Izzy is out? I'd have to figure it'd be old rubber-arm Tavarez who would get the bulk of the duties.
  21. Is Guzman even alive? He's been MIA since spring training. :wall:
  22. That's only unbelievable if you assume we have a competent manager... It's called playing the percentages. Love the sig... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
  23. Looks like ZZ has a mini-me. You don't lie: Maybe ZZ thought he wasn't get his word out enough so he decided to start up a 2nd username to post under??? :-k :D
  24. That's not a bad idea. Anyone have it? I believe its "IhiredDustyandImstickingwithDustycomehellorhighwater@97andcounting.com". Here's the person we should really be emailing this thread to. He's probably the only chance at getting Dusty out of that Cub's uniform.
