  1. That's how I see it too. The only thing is, if I buy a car and turns out to be a lemon I will do whatever I can to get rid of it and get something more reliable. The Cubs just try to make lemonade. That's what they're going to have to do: hope some team needs a lefty and will pick up most, if not all of the contract. I'll give Hendry a big pat on the back if he finds another team to take Rusch and pay any of his contract. What do you give Hendry for giving Rusch that contract?
  2. 3 straight hits for the Cubs to start the 8th. :D
  3. So basically Marmol is gonna have to throw a shutout to win today with the Cubs' lineup the way it is. No pressure on ya kid!!! :x
  4. Miller has resumed throwing. Rotoworld:
  5. Agreed. The more losing the better. Make sure there's no chance at the playoffs by the time Lee and Prior get back so Hendry doesn't do something stupid. Sell, Sell, Sell.
  6. Mets fans everywhere are dancing in the streets.
  7. Do you have any proof to back that up? One could just as easily say that Maddux keeps Wood and Prior injured - these shenanigans began in 2004, when the Cubs signed him, after all. I only go by what young kids like Marshall seems to say about him. Regardless if you have a young staff it'll be wise to have a veteren presence and I can't of any better then Maddux. Fine. Sign Maddux as pitching coach. Problem solved.
  8. Colvin with a walk-off grand slam to win the game for Clemson.
  9. Dusty is resting him until Lee, Prior, and Wood come back so we can make a run at the playoffs!!!
  10. If you added both their production together you might equal 1 decent leadoff hitter.
  11. BAck to the DL Wood Goes. Joy. It was just on the ESPN bottom line. Link to come.
  12. The game is starting on ESPN U and will move over to ESPN once the Georgia Tech/ College of Charleston game is over.
  13. Just a heads up if anyone's interested. Our 1st round pick Tyler Colvin is playing for Clemson in the College World Series today on ESPN. Game starts at 3pm ET.
  14. Womack with a great at-bat and then hits a homerun. 1-0 Cubs.
  15. If anything, it will be fun to call him Tyco if he makes it to Wrigley. :D
  16. Pierre really hasn't been much of a homerun hitter. Here's a more telling story about the suckage of Pierre: Arroyo with 6 rbi and a .375 slugging %. He has an OPS of .581 Pierre with 5 rbi and a .306 slugging %. He has an OPS of .593
  17. Exactly. No point in rushing him back. This season is already in the toilet. He should take his time coming back.
  18. Marmol also has a pretty good change that he hasn't used because he's been pitching in relief. He's got a plus fastball and a plus curveball. And if he pitches as well as Marshall I think most of us will be thrilled. Marshall has been wonderful this year.
  19. when he wins a game? he's had 14 shots now. he's overdue. I love how we just expect rookies to jump in and be studs right away. It's not like this season isn't tanked anyway. Bring Hill up and let him pitch in the rotation the rest of the year. Let him get comfortable up here instead of sending him back and forth from Wrigley to AAA. And it's not like every great pitcher automatically pitched well in their first year. Go back and look at Greg Maddux's first year in the big leagues. He was something like 5-14 with a 5+ ERA. I'm not saying Hill is going to be the next Maddux, but you have to at least give him a chance to succeed. A handful of starts after being up and down from AAA is not that chance.
  20. I really am surprised that some hack pitcher hasn't throw a perfect game against us yet this year. It just makes too much sense with all our hitters swinging at every pitch.
  21. You really have to appreciate the Cubs' stubborn ways. Not many teams could go up to the plate game after game and swing at every pitch like the Cubs. You'd think at some point they might figure out that working the count and getting a pitch you can drive might actually be a smart thing to try. But of course not.
  22. I could seriously underhand the ball farther than Pierre can throw it.
  23. Houston has the 2nd worst team ERA in the national league, trailing only the Brewers. So of course they're going to shut us down 2 of the 3 games.
  24. funny how that's the only thing Steve Stone could think of to say that is positive about the current Cubs. Well, there's really not much positive about this team.... Except the fact that they could win there 3rd series in a row when they win today vs the Reds, Card and "stros! Too bad even if they find a way to pull their heads out of their butts and win today they'll still be 10 games under .500.
  25. Too bad he's gonna get the loss since the offense is a joke.
