For some reason I have no interest in watching this game today. I'll probably go to beer-league softball practice and then to the gym. Screw the Cubs.
He did well today after the 1st inning, but I don't have any problem with sending him to Iowa. He definitely has things to work on that he can't work on at the major league level. Rusch should definitely be DFA'd though.
Watching the Braves and Red Sox on Fox right now. They just interviewed Terry Francona and asked him why he likes Kevin Youkilis in the leadoff spot. Francona's response: "He's not the prototypical leadoff man, but he just knows how to get on base." Wish we had a coach who understood that concept.
Figures. I had tickets to this game, but I gave them away. Of course it turns out that Verlander and Marmol are going. Cubs lose 1-0. Marmol pitches lights out, but the Cubs lose when Howry gives up a single in the 8th.
Murton has to figure out how to hit that inside pitch with some sort of authority. Teams are getting him out all day and night by pitching him inside. He's just hitting that pitch weakly on the ground to the left side over and over again. Until he makes an adjustment he's going to keep struggling. Still pretty crappy that an organization who is going nowhere this year would sit a developing rookie because he's struggling. Why not give him playing time to see if he can figure it out? It's not like he's taking at-bats away from a player who's better.
