    Prior just hit 94mph on the gun. He's got a lot of movement on that fastball too. Looking much better than Sunday. Still a little wild though.

    Did you really expect anything different? Typical Cub move. Season's over, but the Cubs refuse to say so, so they try and pick up another veteran off the scrap heap instead of letting the rookies get the experience they need. I fully expect Hendry to bring in some crappy veteran to play LF in the upcoming weeks.

    This leads me to beleive that a transaction for the Cubs is imminent. I wouldn't leave Murton on AAA for too long, especially because we are so obviously out of the race. Man I hope they don't bring up Pie. He's just not ready for the bigs. If they're going to bring up an outfielder they should bring up Negron. He's killing the ball at AA and he's already on the 40-man roster. Pie should not be brought up. He's struggling enough at AAA. Why bring him up to the majors? Doesn't make much sense.

    He should be sent down to AAA and Hill brought back up. Marmol definitely has good stuff, but he was behind almost every hitter tonight. He needs to work on his control down in the minors.

    The AL Central is absolutely murdering the NL Central so far this year.

    Santana only has 63 pitches through 5 innings. He's easily gonna pitch a complete game at that pace.

    Cedeno needs to spend more time with the lefty BP guy. He looks awful against lefties.

    Marmol's got the stuff, but it's pretty obvious that he still needs to work on his command in the minors. He's throwing way too many balls and getting behind too many hitters.

    Morneau with a 2-run homer. Marmol is getting behind all the hitters and having to throw too many fastballs.

    Wasn't the idea this year to get speedy players that could put pressure on the defense? The Cubs don't hit and run, they don't steal many bases (except for Pierre) and they don't find a way to get on base. Yet Baker's offense seems to have 2 tactics: the sac bunt or wait for someone to hit a HR. I know many here don't believe in the stolen base or the hit and run. That's not even the point. The Cubs either have no plan, they had a plan but scrapped it or they simply don't have what it takes to make it work. You forgot one: wait for the other team to commit errors.

    I guess the Tigers are cheating too. They've already scored 7 runs in 5 innings against Carpenter tonight. :twisted:

    and he's upping that trade value every day he does well. Hendry might be able to get something of worth for Nevin if he trades him off at the trading deadline.
