  1. This is like Hoops coming on and being cryptic with some of his posts. Does this mean we should expect a signing soon, Bruce? Or does it just mean the Cubs are interested?
  2. I think I'd be more interested in Nixon as a 4th outfielder, bench guy than Floyd.
  3. Willis is available in a trade. Petitte is still out there. For cost/performance, I'll still take Lilly. Agreed. Willis would cost too much in terms of prospects IMO, and he's overrated to boot. Petitte is coming off arm injury and was pretty bad last year.
  4. I don't think Hendry is really interested in Zito. He's going to get in the $100 million range which is insane. I haven't really seen the Cubs mentioned as suitors for Zito in any newspapers. I think it's either Schmidt and a cheaper 5th starter type, or two #4 starter types like Lilly and Westbrook.
  5. I miss Jordan. NBA hasn't been the same w/o him.
  6. I would imagine Hendry would target Cliff Floyd if Jones was traded. Not really the upgrade I was looking for, especially since Floyd is pretty much a bench guy at this point in his career because of all his injury problems. I would rather just keep Jones in CF and keep Murton in LF.
  7. I wouldn't mind picking up Jason Jennings, but I have no interest in signing Lugo to play CF unless Hendry has something up his sleeve to get a big bat for LF as well. Jone to Lugo would be too big a downgrade offensively IMO, and we still need to add offensively.
  8. Only if he agrees to it.
  9. Thought this was funny. Boston Fans Start Online Petition Against Signing of Drew Over 2500 signatures on there. Can't wait until Boston signs him and he gets a hamstring strain. Boston fans are going to lynch him.
  10. Let's just hope he's actually 30 and not older...
  11. Unless your Roger Clemens then you miraculously get better with age. Wonder how he does that? B-12 shots....
  12. No, not really. I think his arm will be fine since he hardly throws any breaking balls, and he kept the ball down last year. He strikes me as a good pitcher - not the kind of guy who falls apart when he loses a tick or two off his fastball. Well it should. A decrease in velocity and the decreasing length of a pitchers stride are two of the biggest keys to a shoulder injury. throwing less hard makes a pitcher hurt his shoulder? interesting. no. It's a symptom of shoulder injury. Maddux used to throw in the 90's. Haven't seen him come close in quite some time, yet I've never heard a thing about him having a shoulder injury. People lose velocity when they get older.
  13. So, if the Red Sox trade for Peavy and finally sign Matsuzaka, their starting pitching would look like this (in no particular order): Peavy Matsuzaka Schilling Beckett Lester/Papelbon
  14. My hopes are way too high at this point. I really do hope Hendry signs Schmidt.
  15. $25 million? Please don't be the Cubs...
  16. I wish I were reading the Cubs on that list of involved team... We're not on that llist because we're going after Dunn.
  17. Especially if they're looking to still sign JD Drew.
  18. Come on Grossman. Show us something here.
  19. Has Grossman been in the shotgun at all this game? The O-line never gives him time.
  20. Gotta love those throws off the back foot. :x
