  1. Also, I really enjoyed having the realization tonight that, with all of the awesome Ramirez has been bringing to the table in his career, Castro had a 5-hit game first. mmmm, Castro.
  2. Clearly, there is a gross failure of the Atlanta sports media to recognize that they have players who have somehow managed to out-lazy the laziest lazies in baseball. Beyond that, nothing to see here.
  3. It's late. Leave me alone.
  4. After 40 consecutive starts.... he's earned a day off, no? If Castro weren't such a lazy player being led by a bunch of even lazier players, the goal would be to earn a 41st consecutive start.
  5. The game was on national TV. I'm pretty sure this has just happened. Stay tuned for the local buffoonery to pile on.
  6. SS Barney 2B DeWitt 3B Ramy 1B Pena CF Byrd LF Soriano RF Colvin C Hill P Dempster Quade must be afraid that Valentine will yell at him if he starts Castro today.
  7. Braves lineup: Bourn CF Prado LF McCann C Uggla 2b Freeman 1b Jones 3b Gonzalez SS Constanza RF Jurrjens P
  8. Pena's failure to teach him is proof that Pena is a poor leader.
  9. Hendry was a game over .500 too. This means nothing.
  10. FTH. Is hit-and-running really necessary with Campana? Make Castro take until he has strike one. If Campana can't reliably be on second base by then, why is he here? ETA - thanks for the update WSR.
  11. He's definitely a good guy and he worked his ass off to do what he thought was best for the organization. In the end the results just weren't there. I'll always admire the hell out of him for getting that Lilly deal done while he was in the hospital. He was truly dedicated to the cause. His dedication to the job has never been anything short of admirable. There's no excuse for the poor results, but it definitely wasn't for lack of trying. On a personal level, the guy definitely deserves plenty of respect. I hope no one pooped in his office.
  12. I blame the lack of a GM who emphasizes catching the ball. Players probably don't think it's important anymore yet. I can understand why you would assume it was the Cubs, but it was the Cards that blew the defensive plays. In that case, post fixed

  14. Douchiest injury ever.
  15. The Tigers fan in my class tried mocking me about Theriot's continued productivity against the Cubs. This was my response, almost verbatim.
  16. By the time I heard the news, this thread was already 12 pages deep. I've been trying to balance work, uncontrollable giddiness, and catching up on the thread all day. Thanks to goony for the PC updates and for the detailed description of your attire and the things you've been doing to Ricketts under the table. I hope Hendry catches on elsewhere, preferably within the division. He's a good guy, and he deserves all the support that the BFIB have to offer.
  17. I just stole Superfan lines for my two teams. Ditka Driving a School Bus 12-Inch Ditkas
  18. Coleman and Colvin probably can't tell the difference anymore either.
  19. How many more walk-off grand slams has he hit?
  20. Marmol has now given up three homeruns this year. One to this guy, who doubled his season HR and RBI totals with one swing. One was to the backup catcher in Pittsburgh, for his first career HR. Who was the third?
  21. Rockies coaches are always taking the fall for their players.
  22. I'd like to hear Hollandsworth respond to ARam's last sentence. Dude bitches about ARam not making the players around him better. Well how come he never took ARam under his wing and tried to make him a "better leader"? Hollandsworth sucked so it wasn't his job to make his teammates better, it's on the really good players like Ramirez to make the other players better, and when they fail to do that we can say they actually weren't good. I believe inspiring Ramirez to be a better leader falls neatly under the "veteran presence" responsibility that meatheads like Hollandsworth love to play up.
  23. Cubs are buried deep in the standings in mid-August. This is Quade's time to shine. The only way to do that is with wins.
  24. I missed this one and only caught the rundown on MLBN. One of the things they were ripping Zambrano for was making Quade look like an idiot, because Quade went to the ump to stick up for his player who obviously didn't give a crap and who was joking in the dugout before he left, and then they said and showed that Quade was stuck being out on the mound trying to figure out what to do next. So my question is: The last HR Z gave up was a solo shot, meaning that there were 7 runs on the board early in the 5th inning, and Z had time to give up a HR, wait for the guy to trot the bases, and throw at Chipper twice. At this point, had Quade really not yet decided on who the next pitcher was going to be? Was no one up in the bullpen at the time?
