  1. Anger or not, Cubs fan or not - if he's capable of dwelling on that thought long enough to form it into complete sentences and spit it out on the air, he's too stupid to share his opinions on baseball for a living.
  2. I'm assuming this is what you meant.
  3. Cubs still have a chance to win it this year. No sense wasting playing time on Colvin unless they're mathematically eliminated.
  4. Considering the numbers he put up over his career, it's no surprise he advocates the standard intangibles that only the MLB-experienced would understand.
  5. Castro was a bad example, but April's rookie of the month has slowly been suffering from the stench of the lazy inmates. If you don't blame Barney's non-superstardom on Ramirez, you don't watch baseball.

  7. This was a pretty good read, thanks. I liked a lot of the stuff he linked to, especially the deduction used to finger the White Sox as the accusers and JP Arencibia's Twitter feed. I wonder who the specific reliever is. It's the only way to know for sure whether he's a lunatic who wants to kill Jose Bautista or just a hard-nosed, blue-collar, plays-the-game-the-right-way-and-sticks-up-for-his-teammates-with-old-school-baseball-justice kind of guy. (ie, Is he white?)
  8. Fair enough, but it doesn't matter where he plays his first few years in the bigs. He'll end up in a northeastern big market once his payday rolls around. Then the douchiness will just be the manifestation of his intense desire to win.
  9. I don't remember the earlier posts in this thread, but just in case this hasn't been covered yet, I would just like to say: Awesome. This guy needs to be in the majors yesterday. Any chance he'll get traded to the Cardinals? Let's not just give them another elite hitter, which for all his dbaggedness, he still could be. Like the quality of their ballplayers has ever made a difference. They'll compete regardless. Not only would they be infinitely more fun to hate if they had Harper, but it would be a no-win for the BFIB, who would be forced to either love the biggest DB in the league or turn on the hometown star.
  10. In 170 PAs while walking 3 times Does that make it less ridiculous?
  11. Did Reed Johnson really just push his OPS up to .955?

  13. It's a little more plausible this way, though the skin bleach may help him out there.
  14. Well, that's a terribly written sentence. Nice catch. I didn't realize how many people played 126 or more seasons with the Cubs.
  15. If Castro's power stroke is truly developing, this season is about as successful as I could have rationally hoped.
  16. I was looking at the standings today and some of these points really stuck out: - Bos, NYY, Phi, TX combine for +530, and no other team is above +52 - Cubs are .5 behind the Royals in overall record, yet their run differential is 52 runs worse - The entire AL Central is in the red - The Padres are 12 games behind the Giants, yet trail in run differential by only 1 run - Related to previous: Giants are 11 games over .500 with a -7 RD - Detroit is 12 over with a -6 RD - Min and Oak have identical records, but are separated by 94 runs Is it common to see such variance? This seems a little ridiculous to the untrained (my) eye.
  17. But what are the rankings in sac bunts?
  18. Castro SS Barney 2B Ramirez 3B Peña 1B Byrd CF Soriano LF Colvin RF Soto C Garza P
  19. I hope they're able to hold firm and find their stroke.
  20. Looks like a good chance to poke back into the winning side of things after getting the shaft in yesterday's game. If they only lose one game per week the rest of the season, the Cubs are playoff contenders, but they'll have to overcome some stiff competition, and it'll take some crazy endurance. Wang.
  21. The third base umpire, Kerwin Danley, has left the field, presumably to don his home plate gear, in order to relieve Nauert. edit: It was crew chief Dana Demuth, not Danley that replaced Nauert. When did this happen in relation to the six consecutive Ks? And is he going to give it a rest in the bottom of the 9th?
  22. I hope the bullpen holds this win down for Randy Wells, and that it doesn't make Garza's head explode.
  23. I love how religious Dusty is with Dustyball and playing the matchups.
